How well correlated is GPA to MCAT?

There are very few things that are predictive of what MCAT score an individual will get.

I think the only things that are actually linked might be the verbal score of the SAT at the VR of the MCAT. The SAT Math might be linked a little bit, but I don't think it was significant.

Other than that, in general, better GPA's do better on the MCAT, but I don't think the R value is very high on that...

yeah MCAT and GPA have nothing to do with each other...you get out of the MCAT what you put into it...same with GPA.

I think the only correlation I've seen of the MCAT with anything else is strength of the undergrad institution (well this is based on MDApps, which isn't a very representative source). Seems like the harder the undergrad institution, the higher the MCAT score generally. Let's say you search up Harvard, you'll see more 30+'s than if you searched up Cal State LA. But in terms of GPA and MCAT, I think there is one but an extremely loose correlation. If you study harder to get a higher GPA you would probably have the same work ethics when it comes to the MCAT <- that's the only correlation I see.

I'm not sure of the formula, but 1 professor at my undergrad came up with an SAT to MCAT conversion. My conversion was to the digit. Almost all of the people I know were converted to within 2 MCAT points at my undergrad using his formula.

I always thought that the verbal correlated mainly with your SAT score, while the science sections were predicted strongly by your grades.

Who cares? Just having a high gpa would never guarantee a high mcat... both are attributed to something else (think omitted variable bias - possibly good study habits).
