How will adcoms look at this GPA situation?

My science GPA is 3.55 and my cumulative GPA is 3.61 after 3 years of undergraduate college.

However, my sophomore and junior year science GPA's are 3.67 and 3.69 respectively, it's just that in my freshman year I got a C+ in a 4 credit class and a B in the associated lab.

Will this upwards trend help set me apart from the other students in my range, or will I just be viewed as a "3.5" student, etc etc.

Well a upward trend it always good. But i'm no Adcom, they will obviously consider your upward trend but they will also put emphasis on your gpa. However what i've heard from my stat teacher ( taught biostats at gwu med and gtown med) said that the last 2 years are looked upon with the most emphasis.

Now that I re-read your post you only had 1 C+ which isn't really that bad or anything..

I don't really see a 3.6X as an upward trend. If I were on an adcom, I'd just view your GPA as it is with no special considerations.

A 3.55 isn't terrible, but it's not great either. Just make sure you have plenty of other things on your application to show that you really are capable of doing this.

3.5 and strong MCAT and you have a good chance. Beef up on those EC's.

Well the trend for me was that in my freshman year my science gpa was a 2.44, and in my soph and junior years it was almost a 3.7 (i'm assuming a 3.69 is basically seen as a 3.7)

I see that, but you're still in the 3.5 science gpa club.

Just have a 3.6 GPA above in both cumulative and science and an a decent MCAT and ECs. You should be fine. Trust me I don't really follow my ADCOMMS in our school, mainly because I like challenging myself with harder classes.

Most of time when people refer to upward trend, it seems to include low GPA and then 3.75 or 3.8+ for the proposed "upward trend" years.

Geez, dude. You're grades are nice. Now, you just need a little self-confidence.
