How will the change of step 1 into P/F impact decision of going MD or DO?

Regardless, people will push you to go MD if given the opportunity to, especially if you are going for competitive specialties.

However, with the change of step 1 into P/F are DO students going to have a significantly harder time differentiating themselves from MD students?
 
I suspect that something (e.g., Step 2) will replace Step 1 as a filter, and that any downsides of attending DO, as opposed to MD, will remain about the same.
 
don't care too much, as whatever happens this app cycle is whatever happens! My main interest is in primary care, and I'm from a DO friendly state.

This has been discussed to death in these fora.

It won't. People will eventually learn the Step 2 will replace Step 1

Also, a lot of people won't have the luxury of being able to choose between MD vs DO
