I got my first acceptance the second I walked out of my AZCOM interview..so I went back to where I was staying and took a nap. But first I cancelled all of my other interviews..and saved myself thousands of dollars.

How will you celebrate if you get an interview and/or acceptance.
Wishful thinking thread! 🙂

I had some pizza and a few beers. Nothing special.

I'm so very jealous. I hope I can do that on October 15.

Immediately called my husband, mom, dad, grandma, etc.... left work early, visited my hospice patient, made my favorite meal....... and going out this weekend. Will probably have a huge party back at home before moving to see everyone one last time before I disappear for four years. 🙂

I told my wife, parents, and in-laws, but other than that, nothing really. It's hard for it to be real until I lock myself down to a particular school and...*gasp*...pay the matriculation deposit. lol

Acceptance: Probably tell my close friends and family. And if it comes before I get an interview at CCOM if I get one at all, I'd be very conflicted 😛

MD schools don't start until Oct 15.

Edit: Interviewing at Loyola and Drexel next week, so hopefully they'll get back to me on Oct 15.

Didn't apply to Loyola, but I was reading through last year's Drexel thread and they at least a month before decisions are made, so I doubt people will hear on the 15th of October.

Do you have any celebration suggestions? So far all I've done is drive to an interview at DMU, hit a and kill a large animal on the way, get lost on the way to the school and arrive at 8:30 on the dot, have a terrible interview, drive home and return to work. Somehow I feel like this is not an appropriate celebration.

How did your car survive hitting and killing a large animal?

it was a coyote i think so i guess not that large. I stopped and checked the tires etc and everything seemed ok despite being kind of bloody/furry so i carried on. When the interviewer asked me the next day if i was "humanistic" (a word i am not terribly familiar with) I almost responded with my deep sorrow about the killing of this animal however I realized that even though I don't know what humanistic means it probably doesn't mean you care about animals.

it still hasnt even dawned on me yet that im going to be a doctor lol

It took a few days for it to sink in for me too. I still go between excitement and disbelief. I took three or four days before I told anyone other then my boyfriend and parents

Called my gf and parents.

Me: Ma and Dad, I got into med school!
Dad: Son, I am proud! (He is a doctor and knows all about D.O.s)
Mom (in background): So you're giving up on that O.D. school thing?
Me: For the 10000th time it's D.O. school and it's also medical school.....😱

Those all sound good.! Congrats to everyone who has/will get into school soon. I think I will call MOM/Boyfriend/sister and close friends, and then order McDonalds.

Sounds rough. Always a bit unnerving to run over an animal. Plus, what the heck is humanistic? Do they mean having a compassionate nature? I would be stumped too. I'll probably suck at my DMU interview next week. Lol

One day I slammed on my brakes to avoid hitting a squirrel..only to see it get swooped up by a hawk..

I think to celebrate I will train a hawk to take out random critters that get missed by cars. That would be cool

I'm not applying just yet, but had to chime in on the road kill conversation.

Just spent $300 for a new radiator 2 weeks ago. Hit a big animal on my way home last night, don't even know exactly what it was. Had to get another radiator today. fml

But good luck to all you guys this cycle! congrats on accomplishing your goals to those who've been accepted. can't wait to be in your shoes!

I thought I had already posted in this thread but....

I am looking at getting out to Vegas during pool season next year go big at XS with bottle service one night. I would spend a lot of day time poolside hit up some spa services. Been out there twice but going big during pool season would be good for me! Best of luck everyone.

You HAVE to go to Rehab at the hard rock on Sunday morning. Best pool party there by far. The palms one isn't too bad either. But yea, XS is ****in awesome.

Hopefully you did not suck! I was surprisingly unnerved by this! They definitely caught me off guard with several of the questions at DMU. Hopefully you fared better than me!

Humanistic means caring and believing in human dignity and the common good.

In most cases you display humanistic qualities by community service, self sacrifice, and respect for others as well as yourself.

I wonder if 9/17 interviewees will get decisions today too.

Wow I interviewed at DMU on 9/13 and just got my acceptance and went on a run. Twinzies!!

Running sucks, you guys are nuts. Maybe I feel like that because I just ate half a large pizza. It was buy one get one free tonight and its just my wife and daughter and me. Blegh

i ran right after i got my first (only so far) acceptance too! i wanted to see if being accepted to med school makes you faster and stronger. definitely does. for the first day at least

Interview: Nothing, just started researching, and hoping/praying I did well enough to get that precious acceptance.

Acceptance: 1st one- go out with my wife to a nice Italian dinner and had a grey goose martini with 3 hand stuffed blue cheese olives (Delicious). Followed by a $29(overpriced) grouper with scallop and shrimp also Delicious.

2nd one- go out with the wife again, this time chug a beer followed by a ta killa shot w/lime and salt. Followed by 10 fickers hot wings and 4 more beers. Little did I know that later that night I would win $60 from a Big Brother pool I entered at work. Didn't even pick the guy that won, someone else picked him lol. All in all with a KYCOM acceptance and winning $60 it was a pretty damn good day .

just got my first interview today. I was listening to the message with my GF next to me. I preceded to hold up my hand and get a high five. felt great. Now I'm researching! game time baby!
