I just talked to a friend of mine who just interviewed at Baylor. She was asked if she would treat an illegal immigrant. So, whats everyone's take on answering political questions like this? Is it advised to even answer them?

I seriously doubt saying "I am not comfortable answering this question." would get you an acceptance. I think the best thing to do is answer honestly and accept, consider and discuss any points the interviewer raises with you. They want to see how you think, not whether you are properly indoctrinated, at least that is what I hope they are doing most of the time. If you are worried about being tested for your beliefs and want to tell them what they want to hear, the PC approach is usually the best, though I wouldn't personally answer based on what I think they want to hear.

what is the PC response and what is the underlying principle making it so?

Lol, I will let each person determine that definition on their own. Not a discussion that is worth getting involved in on here, imo.

My personal answer to the illegal alien question? Obviously treat for any emergent condition/situation, and this is true for everyone. The intricacies of when would you treat someone and when would you not depends on the exact situation (beyond the emergent case) so it is hard to expound without additional information. I would personally avoid any consideration of the person's legality or illegality in rendering care, unless there was a legal duty or specific hospital policy dictating what I do. I would be shocked if there existed in this country a legal prohibition against treating a known illegal in an emergency, but even if there was the moral response in this situation would be to treat the patient anyway and deal with any consequences afterward.

Um, answer it honestly.

In your response, you should show that you acknowledge and understand opposing viewpoints but just be honest. Don't just try and say what you think your interviewer wants to hear. You just don't sound genuine.
