I know I shouldn't over-think these things. But I'm a bit curious how you guys would interpret this "comment."

After I finished my first interview (there are two at this school), I was sitting in the waiting room, near the door leading to outside, waiting for my second interviewer. Of the two interviews, my first interviewer was the member on the admissions committee. He has a reputation on interview feedback to be a 78 year-old grouch and hard interviewer (people actually mentioned his name). And true to those comments, he didn't smile once during the interview and grilled me with ethics, economics, and healthcare.

My first interviewer--presumably after writing down his notes for my interview--enters the waiting room and walks toward exit where I'm sitting. As he approaches me and the exit, I look up and say "thank you so much again." He leans over and whispers "relax," smiles, and exits the door.

At first blush, I thought "yay! this is a good sign." Then I realized that he might be encouraging me to not be nervous for my second interview. Now that I'm leaning towards my second interpretation.

How would you interpret this? I asked two of my friends, and both of them interpreted it in a different way.

It means nothing, he is just a really nice guy.. But when and if you get in, it means that you gave one hell of an interview... And I was dead wrong.. Good luck though

You're going to go crazy if you do this to yourself. It was probably just the dude being friendly. Try not to analyze anything.

haha! you're probably right. I've got to stop overthinking these things. But that will probably not happen until I get accepted.

Take a shot, do a line whatever you need to do to calm down..

Although I believe an 8ball might jack you up, not really sure

 I guess i should have taken his advice after all.

Okay, thread closed.

Yep, we've probably all felt that way at one point or another. Set your goal to not thinking about it at all, and that way maybe you'll only think about it a little bit. 🙂

I'd probably just log on to tetrisfriends.com and play live...

Ah! I kept over analyzing things about the interview at my #1 school...so to prevent complete madness from setting in I decided to take everything as a positive sign. That way I do not have to think about it. If I don't get in-yea it will huuuuuurt but that may or may not happen and at least I am not driving myself insane now.
So either way-take a deep breath and take my "A Beautiful Mind" approach lol

what's the beautiful mind approach? I thought that dude goes crazy...

Oh WAIT. you mean "your a beautiful mind" approach. gotcha. 👍

actually I was referring to the former...he saw signs in everything. lol
if you were like me-constantly changing mind over the most minuscule detail-you'd find relief in just automatically assigning an arbitrary value to that sort of stuff.
Count yourself lucky that you do not have this issue. It sucks!

By reading my post, you can probably guess: I do have that issue, too.
I never stress before the exam, but once I finish the exam...that's when my mind starts racing all over the place.

Interestingly enough, I also "assign" arbitrary values sometimes. But I usually assign a negative value so as to be pleasantly surprised. 😱

Yeah! :meanie:

Two interpretations -
Interview went awesome, you're a shoo-in. "relax"
You were really nervous. "relax"

Is there any way of really knowing? Nope. So forget about it!!!

Finally someone spells shoo-in right!

I would take that as him thinking, "Nice kid, seems nervous." Don't worry about it 🙂

After a good nights rest, I woke up to the following conclusion:

"relax"=" I've got you covered man. I'm going to brag about you to admissions committee. You are the best applicant I've ever seen. You blew me away despite the hard questions. You're too good for this school. I'm going to introduce you to my daughter..."

j/k
(allusion to office episode where michael overinterprets Ryan)

Yeah, I'm just going to take a chill pill. Thanks for the comments guys!

He probably thought that you thought your interview went wrong and so you were thanking him as if to leave a final impression. That's probably why he told you to relax.
Don't over-analyze things.

Bad sign, have you considered DO?

 j/k, I wouldn't worry about it.

he wanted a lap dance and doesn't enjoy it when people who perform them are stressed out.
