Howard Interview Feedback

The interview forum is not letting me post until next week... I just had my interview at Howard so if you have any questions just ask. Its a four hour process which includes breakfast, a talk from the Dean and financial aid, interview, and a tour. Its very laid back and not as stressful as you think. The interviews are one-on-one. There is also a one page essay. Check out the interview feedback, it was really helpful for me. The questions are typical such as:
Why dentistry?
3 strengths?
How do you deal with stress?
etc...

They people were very nice and sincere. They are remodeling the school and the Dean said that it will be a whole new school in 10-15 years. They are currently building a new pedo clinic which looked really nice, it will be open really soon. I really liked it when I was there and was impressed overall.

Do you mind sharing your stat? and when did u finish your aadsas application? I visit Howard a month ago and talked to the admission. they seem to be very nice. I finished my addsas application around mid July and my GPA is 3.24 science GPA 3.0. DAT 19/18/17. if you still remember some questions that they ask during the interview, please share them with people here 🙂

I turned in my aadsas on June 2 and retook my DAT on August 15. GPA is ~3.0 and DAT 19/19/22.

Some questions I had were:
Why Dentistry?
What are your 3 strengths?
Tell me about those science courses you had in college (I didn't do to well in a couple...)
Do you have any experience in the dental field (shadowing, volunteering...)
Do you have any questions for me?
What do you know about Howard? Are you familiar with our mission?

Other applicants had different interviewers and had:
Why are you here?
Tell me about yourself
Why should we accept you?

The interview feedback for Howard was really helpful for me. I copied all the questions I could find and put it into a Word document. I would then review them so I would be comfortable with the questions.

Some advice I got from different dentists beforehand were:
*Be yourself, be natural
*Do not memorize answers. I know this is tough but you don't want to look rehearsed.
*Be confident. You're pretty much half way there since you are at the interview 🙂
*Don't fidget, don't play with your hair (ladies), maintain eye contact (they pretty much stare at you during the interview)
*Just be sincere and relax

You do not need to bring anything since they provide a folder with info (includes a pen)
