Hi anybody who has applied to Howard School of Dentistry Advanced Standing DDS beginning in 2013? Its deadline ahas still not passed which is 13th of January. Please post whoever has applied to this school!!!!
 
I have applied through caapid, but did not give my part-2, yet. I am taking the test on nov 27,28
 
I applied for Howard university through CAAPID and I didn't get any news of them is that normal? what about supplemental document, do they need anything?
Please answer me.

even i applied through caapid...and the mailing date is 21.....i dint get any supplemental application till now ...i think we will get a supplimental apllication ....i tried calling them but it just goes to an answering machine

I had applied through CAAPID in June, got an email from Howard about 2 weeks ago asking for suppl appl fees.. I dont remember well what else they had asked for since I deleted the email. But just to let every one know, they have started sending out emails asking for fees & suppl apl.
 
Ok, I just checked my email's trash folder and here is the email from Howard, received on 1 Nov:

Dear XXXXXXX:

We have received your application and materials from the Centralized Application for Adbvanced Placement fro International Dentists(CAAPID). Please submit the non-refundable application processing fee of $200 in the form of a money order payable to Howard University.

Payments should be mailed to the following address:

Howard University College of Dentistry Office of Admissions

600 W Street NW Room 126

Washington, DC 20059

If you have any questions please email [email protected] ATTN: CAAPID Program Director

Be advised that all personal checks will be returned and may cause a significant delay in processing your application.

Thank you for your interest in the College of Dentistry.

hey guys ..i did not receive any kind of supplemental application till now and its nearing the last date ... is anyone in the same situation?

oh thats bad.... atleast sad in my case...i dint have any kind of US exp when i applied in CAAPID.. now i cant edit that part....But after that i did not waste even 1 day and i have been working hard to improve my CV .... they should atleast give chance to show that... :scared:
 
hey i applied and paid the fee... hope they start sending invites! Did any body call them?
 
Any one enlighten me with the bench test in howard? what excercises do they ask and other details are appreciated too.

Hey, can you please tell me if you had sent the TOEFL and NBDE report before they contacted you for the fees?
 
I am in the same situation. No response from the school.
 
Do we have to send 3 additional recommendation letters to the school directly..ever after sending them through CAAPID application.
 
Friends, any news from Howard? They do not respond to any e-mails or calls! That's funny! I even don't know whether my application is complete or not!

Please share if you receive any e-mail from them.
 
they will be sending invites only in february. and yes you can go ahead and send the toefl and nbde score... thats what she said in the email

Did you send your TOEFL using the Howard University code on the TOEFL website? I ask this because there is no Department code for College of Dentistry and ETS send the score to graduate admissions of Howard University not to the College of Dentistry.

Does this mean I will be called for an interview? Any idea about this university?
Anybody in my same shoes?
 
Me too.
I wasn't expecting this email though, going with what i have heard and experienced about Howard univ. that they don't respond to ur email or phone call and stuff. I don't even know their requirements like minimum toefl requirement, bench test and things like that. The only requirement i know of is they need part 2 for the application process, that's about it.
Can somebody who has been through this enlighten us about it? Thanks in advance.

Do they send this confirmation e-mail to all of the applicants?
 
Guys please reply. Does Howard send CAAPID confirmation to everyone? Is there anyone here like me who has not received this "CAAPID received" confirmation e-mail?

Now that i have paid the application fee, I happened to see the new profile of HU International Dentist Program. It mentions that we have to send the office of admissions the official NBDE and TOEFL scores, but the email i got from them didnt mention anything about the scores, except for the $200 fee.
So what do i do fellas? I send them the scores right away or should i wait for them to ask for those?

Well, things move a little too slow at Howard, but I heard the invitations for the interview will start to be send out on monday. So good luck to yall.

Guys, it is coming soon! Setti is right, but sometimes things get slow. They are still busy with the regular batch admissions and reviewing all international. Once you get the IV, it is good chance to get into. As the best thing about this college is they don't call much students for IV.

Congrats. perhaps you could post what they have asked in the bench exam so that ppl can guide you. Also when are they interviewing- dates?

Congrats to you all! Bring everything for the bench test, the only thing they gave us last year was the typodont/ dentoform and we didn't have an list of what to bring. The exam was Bridge prep #21 (PFM), #19 (metal) with a temporary crown for tooth #19 , #8 full porcelain crown and a class 2 on a premolar. Maybe there wasn't the anterior crown, can't remember anymore. The exam was mid february and we didnt get the results until mid april just about 4 weeks before the summer session started. So lots of anti-anxiety pills everyone! Good luck!
