hey, its good to hear that people are withdrawing as well as other people waiting. good luck! well I've actually been calling a lot because I was very anxious when May15th past and I didn't get a letter letting me know anything. I haven't had any bad experiences with anyone in the admissions office and Ms. Walk is always very nice. I wasn't sure if i could ask them very specific questions and all they told me was that the alternate list is unranked and that you can accepted up until the first day of classes. I do plan on calling every week however, seeing if any movement has started...don't know if ill get a straight answer. Hopefully some more people withh post on the thread.

Been calling Howard obsessively but no answers yet. Think I have been talking to the secretary seeing as how Ms. Walk has been on vacation. The secretary has not been able to tell me much, i have been asking aout the alternate list, how many are on it, when they will be mailing, has there been any movement, etc. but to no avail. Think i will be calling back on monday to see if i can get more definate answers. till then still waiting. gl everyone

Hi Folks,
Howard does not put many people on their waitlist and generally by this time, most accepted people have heard where they are going and have either given up their slot or sent in their deposit to attend. That being said, I have known folks to get the acceptance call on the Saturday before orientation starts the next Tuesday. If you are holding out for this situation, better have a contingency plan that will enable you to move to DC in a hurry.

The waitlist is ranked but no one except the Dean of Admissions (not the Admissions coordinator) knows the exact rankings. People are pulled off the waitlist according to their ranking so again, the only thing you can do is WAIT. Calling is not going to get you anywhere and only bugs the office staff who have enough to do with planning orientation right now.

If you haven't heard anything, be prepared to re-apply for next year as you want to be early with your AMCAS.

It's very difficult to wait but you do not have a choice other than to wait and work on your Plan B (what you are going to do if you do not get into medical school).

Good luck!
njbmd 🙂

hhmm...may i ask where you got this information? when i went to the interview, ms walk specifically said that dean cannon will call her and ask for x amt of ppl from the list. when ms. walk gives names, it purely comes down to who wants it and who has clearly exhibited it.

Also when i called, they were sure to tell me multiple times that the waitlist is unranked. As is my compulsion, i am going to call again today to see whats going on. GL everyone

Anyone heard anything lately? we are at the month till doomsday mark, think its time for my weekly check up for them not to be able to tell me about my status.

:luck: I withdrew on Monday. Best wishes everyone Howard is an AWESOME school1

Called Ms. Walk yesterday and had a short conversation with her. Said there had be no movement on the waitlist for me obviously, but not to give up. Though im constantly updating my file, i am looking into plan 2-5. has anyone heard anything lately? GL!

If I recall correctly from the many post on SDN, njbmd is an admin on SDN, went to HU, and at one point assisted with the admissions process. Based on her numerous posts, she is not only knowledgeable about the HU process but about many other areas as well (including surgery and UVA). My guess is that as much as it stinks for everyone on the waitlist and those who didn't even get there her post is likely accurate. Although I can appreaciate wanting to hear something for myself so if someone does call/email I encourage them to post what happend. If anyone gets a chance you should search out her posts as they contain a lot of good info, and encouragement. Good luck to all of those on the HU waitlist! :luck:

Grootmyface got in off the waitlist! He got a call on Saturday morning from Mrs. Walk. Weird to get in on a Sat but its great news. Keep hope alive, those on HU waitlist.

Got a call from Ms. Walk on saturday the 8th at 9:30... told me they had a spot for me. Keep on hoping everyone, if it can happen for me, it can happen for anyone. GL!
