I recently interviewed at Howard with the Dean. Overall, it was a very nice experience. Faculty is super friendly and everyone is really nice. At the end of the interview she said, "So, I'll see you in August." I got the impression that that may mean i'm in??? Anyone else who interviewed at Howard got the same kind of response?? I'm trying to figure out if it's common to hear that during an interview or not. Any other interpretations? Thanks!!!

they told me the same thing... 😀

they didnt say that me 🙁 but i think at howard, if you happen to get an interview, your chances are really really good in comparission to other schools. they dont interview many applicants, i think i was told 90 before dec 1st for 50 spots. 50% aint that bad.

but you all are lucky, knowing what that letter will say.

Howard is only interviewing 10% of 1800 applicants. Which is roughly about 180 interviews for 80 seats. I think there will only be two more interviewing sessions before Decemeber 1st. Count your blessing if you've been invited. They are gonna turn up the heat and become really selective for the second round of interviews. If you interviwed before December 1st your chances of getting accepted is very likely. You'll just have to accept your acceptance. However, we'll all know how they truly felt about us in a few weeks.

Thanks for the info....sounds very encouraging...but where did you get all this from?

Your chances of getting in, post interview, are good. However, if anything is to be learned from previous interview cycles, don't count on verbal acceptances alone. Your only guarantee is that letter you get in the mailbox after Dec 1st.

hey guys .. howard still hasn't replied to me...
i think i'm up there with their stats, but i don;t know what's going on...
do u guys think i should call them???

The dean of admissions told us this on my interview date. In a conferece room full of prospective students she said,"Only 10% of 1800 applicants will be interviewed, so if you are here today consider yourself lucky". She also said when you are accepted make sure to pay your deposit before Jan 15th or you will lose your seat to a student from the second round of interviews.

The dean also said that they are anticipating about an additional 1000 late applications to come in before the deadline. With the increase of applicants and the decrease in available seats, chances of securing a spot will be tougher.

Just like sonylarkhi said, they made it feel as if we were already the newest addition to the family. Just hang tight we have about 20 days of waiting.

Does Howard have a supplementary application? I haven't heard anything from them since submitting my application. I checked their website and they said that you'll get a supplementary application if you are selected for an interview. I wanted to call and confirm my application status but they kinda discourage you from calling them on their website. Any thoughts?

I also interviewed on Oct 22nd and my interviewer, Dr. Bailey, did say: "Okay, so you're in..." then had asked me if I had any other interviews lined up. I was pretty surprised when he had said so I'm hoping things will turn out for the better. Either which way, I'm in the same boat as everyone else and will have to wait it out these last 3 weeks. Good luck to all.

What's even more interesting is that Howard has not asked me for a supplementary application as of yet...I assumed they would have wanted the money before the interview??

I interviewed at Howard and I wasn't asked to fill out any supplementary applications. All I got was an email to send a $45 dollar application fee. Soon after that I got a phone call and email inviting me for an interview.
