Hows everyone doing on Part 1 Studies?

hi

was wondering how everyone was getting along in their studies for part 1. am though with decks and papers once and dont seem to remember too much.

how are u all faring? what have u all managed to do so far?

are u all in the same boat as me - not able to remember all that we have read?? or am i the only one who is feeling so lost???!!!

i plan to do some theory but am not sure how long to spend on that! does anyone have any ideas? i am not too confident on biochem and thot of doing some theory. is that wise?

and how are u all planning to tackle decks and papers? at least thrice? i am not sure if i have that kinda time?!!!

You're not alone on that feeling,I also feel I've forgotten stuff I studied a week ago!!Its scary but I try not to think about it much ,I've always had that feeling and usually(hopefully) all of it comes back to you during the exam🙂 But revision is important.

So tell me how long did it take you to study the decks(all subjects) and how many hours do u study/day.For me it seems impossible to do more than 6hrs.I'm trying for more.With everyday passing I get more and more scared,God help us all!

i do a max of 5-6hrs a day too. cant seem to do more than that- no point since no info really gets into my head after 6hrs!!

it took me 2months to do decks and papers once, and i dint touch theory from any books!! and it seems like i have taken so much time but remember so little. u are right....we do need to revise! but the question is...is there enough time?! what about u? how long did u take for the first round? and how long does the revising take? i hope it doesnt take 2months...there isnt that much time left!!!

and what about theory? how much is too much?

i guess i'm travelling in the same boat as u.though i read theory n decks together,it's of no use,it's so evaporating.i've finished reading all the subjects once xept micro path as i got the kaplan matrl recently .but it's as though i've read just for the heck of it,coz i don't remember anything.especially physio biochem i'm majorly stuck.
but hoping everything goes well for all of us...🙂

It is seem that we all have the same symptom. And I think there is no cure. Just to move on and re..re..revise..

I am not yet done with the decks yet, couse I started with the texts first and the Q's paper.. I have the Biochem and Gen.Ana left of the decks..and I am already way to confused with all the information in my head..I just want to lay it down in a test paper and be done with it..😡

I start reviewing around August and I do atleast 10 hours of sudies a day..you have to organise what to read..you will get bored if you do the same things all this time. Once you feel that you are had it...take a 20 min break..then grap any subjects decks you feel that you dont remeber and just read..dont try to solve the Q's or memorise..just read..belife me it will pay latter on when you try to guess the correct answer 😛

And I am doing it alone too, live in Minnesota so I don't Know anyone here..

good idea HIM.....it sounds like a good idea to switch to some other material when one thing is making u go very slow and is making u bored....i never do that though...i just leave it!!😀


gorur i am stuck with biochem too....been trying to do theory and i am stuck....stuck....stuck....😡 i cant seem to remember this at all....gawd!

yeah and studying alone is the pits......no motivation sometimes...🙁

such a long way to go before we can practice out here huh? it seems so tuff sometimes guys!!!

Relax ur studying material is good enough just concentrate and you'll do fine even if you feel you didnt do good in the exam when you take it, you'll be surprised by your good score becuase this test is scored on a curve so you end up with a better score than you actually performed.

You're ok just have confidence in your abilities and remember your a dentist after all you can do this!

Hi toothlaw,
For those questions you can go through kaplan notes....Dental anatomy and occlusion part.....its a small topic but u need to remember every line of that so that u dont go wrong in these questions....well they are bit confusing....hope this helps.
