I heard from many people in this website who told me that they took the course before.
Most of them said it was pointless and waste of time but I really have trouble studying for DAT and it really gets in my nerve.
I am willing to spend $1200 if it means to boost my grade, but if it's as pointless as most ppl say, then my second option is Kaplan online course.
If online course doesn't help either, i guess I just have to teach myself with bunch of 60 dollar cost books (including kaplan blue book which i already have).

I thought kaplan course is some kind of cram school that i have to find this place and go, but i just found out that it's in my campus!!!(nobody told me about this...errrr)

anyway i need help here~ i was in university for year and a half by the way.
I have over 60 credits(some ppl say wow).
If I take this course, would it affect my grade? or did it affect your grade when you took this? I am full time student now and I will be a full time student until i graduate.

It seems that the course is less than 3 months, so I don't know how much I can improve myself in less than 3 month and I don't know how they can teach me all those subjects in less than 3 months. Some of the schedule says it's less than 2months!!!
Do they seriously teach bio, chem, orchem, pat, math, english in less than 2~3 month? (they also mentioned money back if there is no improvement)

WEll... the Kaplan classroom part of the course is a waste of time.... I was accepted to teach for them... my AA is a 21... and I know I am not qualified ...hahaha. The online materials however are amazing... There is a total of 10 practice tests you can take online which will get your timing down. They have explanations to all the questions. (why each particular answer is wrong) They also have sections which cover heavily tested topics of the test. Its hard to shell out all that money for it but if you want to know if it will raise your scores... if you put in the time... guaranteed.

kaplan doesn't have 10 tests online. It only has 3-4 complete tests. The reset are subject tests. They don't time or anything on those. Am i missing something. Where did you get 10 Tests? Are you counting those subject tests and making it to be 10 tests?

You are looking at the main page... there are three tabs on top... and I forget their names exactly... but one should say something along the lines of additional materials... or test materials... you can see all the tests and quizes that you should take. That or you may have to change the view to see all your scores and then you can see the 7 other tests that are empty

Hi - Do you know if you get access to all of the same on-line materials that are offered with the Kaplan class if you only take the on-line version?

Yes. The online account is all you need to do well.

i suggest you stop by your local kaplan office and ask them if you can look at the course books and if they have time to show you what the online resources would look like.

they do have a great guarantee btw... if you go to all the classes, do all the required work they'll either: 1. let you repeat the class again for free if you don't feel ready at the end 2. let you repeat the class again for free if you do take the DAT and your score improves but you still want a higher score (no matter how much you improve). and 3. if you get sick and have a bad test day and your score stays the same or goes down at all you can either repeat for free or get a full refund of the course.

i found the kaplan internet content very useful. but you have to keep a strict study schedule. my score went from a 17 AA, 18 PA to a 20 AA, 24 PA.

i just added two posts-- "best study materials for the DAT" and "is kaplan enough for orgo I and II" that has my feedback from the course. i thought it was completely worth it. if you did not use it the first time, i would definitely recommend it the second time through.

I bet you haven't got the chance looking into those 10 (9 to be exact) tests you mentioned earlier.

Here's what you'll see after you click on the the top tab, "My Scores":

1) Diagnostic -- Classroom Location
2) Diagnostic -- Online Location
3) DAT Online Midterm
4) Midterm (DAT Only)
5) Online Full-Length DAT Practice Test 1
6) Online Full-Length DAT Practice Test 2
7) Online Full-Length DAT Practice Test 3
8) DAT Online Final
9) Final (DAT Only)

1) & 2) are the same, which are free to everyone. 3) & 4) are the same (the former being online while the other to be taken in classroom). 5) is the same as the CD you will find in the fat blue book. 6) & 7) are something new. 8) and 9) are the same and they are identical to the paper tests found in the blue book too.

You actually have 3 additional full-length tests from the course, i.e. midterm, test 2 & 3. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Personally, paying > 1k for the materials, subject tests and 3 additional tests is not worth the money and time at all. If you can't discipline yourself to study, I doubt Kaplan can make you study any better either.

Why spend months letting others to dictate you when the ADA has already given you their scope of examination? I'm pretty sure Kaplan will not cover 100% of the DAT stuff. Just use your textbook as the main source of references and dwell heavily on good practice tests like DAT Achiever, ADA's Downloadable Booklet, Schaum's Series, Kaplan's BB and Diagnostic ...

im taking the klapan classroom course right now and if you are like me (need someone to motivate you) then take it.. im the type of person that if i were to have free time, i would rather go to the gym, work on my car, and research other things... im not very well disiplined when i have free time on my hands.. i wont use my free time to my advantagous, but rather blow it off sdoing something else then being pissed at myself for wasting quality time like that..

by doing the kaplan class, they give u a lot of homework, online workshops, preview work for the next class and post work from the previous class.. the quizes that they give you are very in depth and the solutions explain everything very well..

basically, if it werent for the class, i would probably be screwed right now.. this class basically makes me study.. and the zillion of notecards they give u help too.. i know a lot of people will disagree with me and some people say kaplan wanted them to teach classes, so i guess it also boils down to ur instructor... but the instructs have notes and things that they have to follow too.. my instructor is a 3rd year upenn dental student and hes real good and i learn a lot.. so.. ya..
