Financially, I can't really afford much, but I still want to be a physician or dentist. Anyone who has had experience with Navy Dental, is it a good program?

How hard is it to get in?

Is the salary still as good as regular dentists?

Do I get ALL of my dental schooling for free?

How many years do I need to serve?

Will I get deployed?

Thanks for any help!

You have to qualify and i believe its 3 years minimum and if you get full ride for 4 years its a 4 year commitment.(Read this in threads on forums)

Nobody really can pay for Dental school unless you won the lottery or have parents who are millionaires that are willing to pay for your education. Thats why they have student loans which can be payed off after school.
a dental school financial officer told me this quote,
"During dental school, its better to live as a student than living like a student out of dental school."
-meaning you should take out loans for what you need , not what you want.

Btw as a Navy Dentist you get payed as a Lieutenant in the navy. You can find more info at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navy_Dental_Corps

Read the "Ask A Navy Dentist" forum in the military dental forum. If you are interested, talk to a recruiter. If you're considering Navy dental, they'll send you down to San Diego to tour the facility and to discover what Navy dentistry is all about.
