Last year, they sent out invitations on 10/29. What is going on this year?

I wonder why programs don't send out invitation earlier and interview earlier. I feel programs that interview earlier have a distinct advantage by shaping the applicants' perception and expectation of what to expect in their later interview trips and the prospective residency programs. sort of like states with early presidential primary. Am I wrong?

I totally agree. It's one thing if they're offering interviews to other applicants. However, if they keep waiting, many applicants will start to look away. We have schedules, too, that must be kept. I think that some programs are confused of the fact that many places have already interviewed and have been "sold" to applicants. The longer they wait, the less interested an applicant becomes. Oh and another thing, I think there are more applications filled, but not more applicants than before. My 2 cents...
