Hpsp oml

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
My recruiter said the board meets for their first meeting early October.

If the board is going to review everyone again, will folks who submit a packet for the new FY also be considered for a 4 year scholarship? Class of 2017, of course.

How would I have 3 call outs for the October board when I was already put on OML and boarded last fiscal year? It is a possibility my packet doesn't even get to the board by the deadline and in that case it's a shame I may not even be considered for the scholarship. Your packet does not just roll over it goes back to the recruiter to be sent back up. Stay on your recruiter and ask for current updates every step of the way. Ask for documentation of their actions to ensure your packets are done properly. No short cuts. When they start calling you asking you for things a week or so before the deadline it may be too late. Also STICK WITH 1 recruiter! Do not let them throw your packet around to different people in the office. Have 1 consistent person in the office you speak with and make sure they are going to be there through the whole process. Good luck everyone!

I am sorry if this seems like a dumb question, what do you mean by call out? I am sorry to hear about this. I truly hope you make it to the board, I know how much work this is to get everything together.

Are you going for a 4 year scholarship? Again, I wish you the best.

Not really sure of your exact situation. If you were boarded last year and placed on the OML, the call outs in all likelihood do not pertain to the selection process. It may be as simple as a missing date, or a transposed social security number on one of a thousand pieces of paper. I know for a fact that folks are boarded and SELECTED every board and then there are errors found in the packet on stuff the board is not interested in, like your emergency point of contact.

Your advice to stay on the recruiters is spot on. Many times after the board has met, you've been selected, taken the Oath of Office, your packet is found to have mistakes (call outs). But because the recruiter has moved on to another applicant, they may not check up on your call outs, Not through laziness or hard feelings, they just get busy and may not check unless you ask them to.

You're obviously absolutely correct and much more knowledgeable about this process than me! You can get to board with an incorrect W-2 and in that case you'll need to get that fixed before you start getting paid, assuming you are selected. it's my understanding and experience that if a packet get's call outs as it goes through the 3 levels of QC on its way to the board it will be kicked back down to the recruiting office (that we work with as applicants) to get fixed before the board even has a chance to see the packet. Whether it's a incorrect date for a signature or an issue with MEPS these call outs must be taken care of in a timely manner in order to get to board level by deadline. And as you've explained if a particular recruiter gets a few other applicants on his desk he has no reason to think your packet is any more important than another (which it's not, the only person who cares about your packet until it gets to the board is YOU). This is why I encourage to set your own deadlines with recruiters AND practice strong documentation techniques. Furthermore, just as in business it's good to have things in writing. Make sure follow up emails are consistent with recruiters verbal word!. please excuse any incorrect terminology used I am still not sure of all the proper terms!
