Hello,

I apologize in advance if this is a silly question, but I was wondering from those who have attended or have been accepted, is what are their requirements for this program? I know the website says you must be a health care professional or professional changing fields into healthcare but how strict are they?

I'm currently a junior at UW pursuing a BA in a health related major but other than 5 years in the Navy as a medic, and a few internships in health organizations I don't have anything else to draw upon. From prior experience would I be a candidate for this program? (FYI-I recently sent this same question to their admissions department but was informed it may take awhile due to the reviewing of applications)

I plan on applying to several graduate programs in health policy & management this upcoming winter and I figure the summer program would be an excellent bullet on my resume.

Thanks in advance!

I am of no help, but I do have a question myself.

I just got admitted to HSPH's Fall 2011-12 MPH program in Health Policy and Management. I'm wondering if any of you plan to take the summer session preceding the academic year? Is it a good idea to take a few courses and free up my semester so I can study for other courses and also maybe work/recruit for work? I live in CA, so I have to seriously consider moving, starting earlier, paying tuition earlier, etc. Thanks in advance!

Hi Dx253

I just got in at HSPH straight out of undergrad (graduating May). The SM2 program does not require having an advanced degree. You can look into that.
Your experiences are relevant and i think you should apply 👍

Hey May3545

I also just got admitted and was thinking about the summer session but i have to seriously consider tuition. it sounds like a good idea to take classes and that way you can free up the first semester

😕
Hi guys, I just got admitted to HSPH for 2012 in the MPH program for health policy and Management and wantged to know if you did end up doing the summmer session and if so what was your experience. Is it too intense? which courses and instructors were easier than others? did it really free you up over the course of the year or was the workload the same anyway? Thanks for your help. But as you mentioned its a large financial undertaking and i dont want to make any desicions i regret.

Does anyone know how the admissions process works for the HSPH summer session? I was rejected from the degree program so would I not get accepted to the summer session? Or does everyone who applies get to take courses in the summer session?

The summer session has its own admissions process, I believe. My impression is that it is less competitive than the regular program admissions, but certainly not that everyone who applies gets in.
Hope that helps!
