Huge mistake on amcas

I'm sure med schools will spend hours scavenge your school's website for dean's list requirements and cross reference with your primary. There goes your med school chances.

Some schools (like mine) put dean's list in big bold letters at the bottom of every quarter so it's kind of hard to miss they won't really have to check requirements. Although I'm still kinda meh about the idea that the dean's list would be the thing they'd be interested in cross checking.

No I don't think each school will, but I'm worried that if one of 21 schools notices, and notifies AMCAS, I'm screwed.

Did you already get verified?. Has your app already been sent out to schools?

Holy ****.
I accidentally put Dean's list for a year that I wasn't on it. I knew I had made Dean's list several times (I graduated a while ago), looked on my college website, and saw that Dean's list is just a GPA > X. So I calculated my GPAs, saw that I was above X all years, and wrote under "awards + honors" that I made Dean's list all four years.

I was cleaning up some documents today and happened to see my transcript - I wasn't on Dean's list for one of those years. I forgot that my senior year I went part-time for one semester and therefore couldn't qualify.

What do I do??? Should I contact each school individually? Wait until I get an interview, then explain? I'm already submitted. **** **** ****. ****.

Well, your grades are not broken down into semesters on AMCAS. They are for the full year. Same thing with the credits earned.

I think you are fine and wouldn't worry about it. If the medical school checks, they are probably just going to look at your grades and not research what your individual school does to formulate the Dean's list.

Medical schools don't see your transcript directly until after you have been admitted and you send them your transcript. So they would not see that you didn't make the dean's list that semester until after already admitting you.

Yeah I thought maybe he hadn't been verified yet but it sounds like he has.

I really really really doubt that the schools will take your transcript and compare it line by line to what you entered on AMCAS just to check for dean's list - even if it IS listed every quarter/year on your transcript.

I'm verified without correction. But what about after I am accepted?? Will my acceptance be rescinded?

To actually even notice, they would have to take your official transcript and compare it to your list of activities for the sole reason of checking for dean's list - and this would be AFTER you've already been accepted.

Dean's honor list is really not a big enough deal for them to do this.

I mean, only an adcom can answer your question with complete certainty, but I doubt it'll matter at all.

You will probably still lose sleep over it, but I encourage you to not lose sleep over it. I would let this one slide. It's a pretty minor mistake, and I could see how it could easily be made, since you did have the grades for Dean's list, just not the required number of credits. I seriously doubt anyone will notice at this point, especially since you're already verified. I would not contact anyone about it.

omg this is horrible. I am now going to replace all my posts with one letter, because I'm convinced adcoms will read this, find out what day I took the MCAT, and trace it back to me.

ahhhh

become a lifetime donor 😉

Well, you only need to be a gold donor (or lifetime if you have the money) to do that.

Anytime someone quotes you, the message is permanent until they edit their messages too. Also, there is the whole google cache thing...

I'm going to report OP to AMCAS either way 😉

Hahahaha med schools are NOT concerned with things as trivial as a dean's list. This isn't something that could possibly make or break your admission, and they are NOT going to fact-check this pretty insignificant detail.
