Hugee Mistake on Application!

Hey everyone... Really need your advice on something. On my application I submitted, I put down the total number of hours for my research as 180. I just realized that number is a little over my one semester's worth of research and I did research for 2 semesters now. I hadn't doubled that number and that's where my mistake was. (At my school, it's actually a requirement for 3 credits/semester to put in 4 hours a week, so doing the calculations, I would've had to do about 300 hours in order to receive the academic credit I got, 6 credits worth). What do you guys think I should do in this situation? Should I contact the schools once they receive my application and tell them, or should I just let it go and if anyone asks just say "that was the total number of hours I actually spent in the research facility, but I did a lot of research and calculations at home"... What do you guys think? Any input would be great please!

I wouldn't call each school and correct them because then you will be perceived as someone that's disorganized and made a very careless error. If you are asked about these hours during the interview then you can correct the mistake, but otherwise I would leave it alone. Your research hours aren't that important as compared to your GPA, DAT and LORs and they won't make or break your chances at any given school. Research is very low on the totem pole and isn't even necessary for admission to most dental schools.

@Space Cake: You're everywhere hahaha Thank you so much for the insight! It sucks that all those hours put into research might not even mean anything, but we'll see how it all plays out I guess. And yeah, I had the same perception in mind as well if I called every school. I think I'll let it go.

I don't think it's a big deal...bring it up in your interview IF you talk about your research or slyly slip it in
