Has anyone ever heard of this ph.d/n.d.

she's not even a doctor and she's boasting how to clean the liver through fasting, curing aids, etc.

huge qwack-doctor if you ask me.

here's her book: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/cu...55&customer-reviews.start=41&me=ATVPDKIKX0DER

but here's the rebuttal:

i dunno if quackwatch.org is reliable, but from the sounds of it this woman is a real bitch for playing around with people's lives.

I haven't read anything about her, but just wanted to point out that your claim she's "not a doctor" is fairly contentious. A number of states license N.D.s (Doctors of Naturopathy) as primary care physicians, and N.D.s are required to go through the same two years of preclinical coursework as M.D.s and D.O.s, followed by two years of clinical rotations.

Ph.D.s are doctors too, fyi.

I agree with you that she is a quack. If she's correct, most of modern science is wrong; she believes that diseases like cancer, AIDS, and various other diseases are caused by parasites, and there is no evidence (save anecdotes, which, while suggestive, are not proof of anything) for any of her beliefs. She is also "practicing" in Mexico b/c of legal troubles due to her practices here in the US. She does not publish any papers in peer-reviewed journals concerning her amazing new findings, although her PhD is apparently legitimate, as far as I can tell; she got it in physiology. The value of the ND is debatable.

It still may work for some people and some people look for alternatives to modern medicine. Maybe she'll be proven wrong some day as well. Who knows?

i can fully admit that western medicine does not have all the answers and that alternative medicine has given some patients real options regarding treatment (i.e. acupuncture).

where i have a problem with alternative/naturopathic medicine is that the industry (yes, as granola as it is, it is an industry) has lobbied hard to be able to avoid FDA clinical testing and regulation protocols. We have no idea what the real benefits and risks are to these treatments, and the result is people put at risk. There is a real misconception that if it is natural, it is safe...

i hope my BF doesn't read this, she is studying to be a doctor in chinese medicine! 😳

your boyfriend is a she?

and to other person, when i said doctor, i meant medical doctor, because thats what most people attribute to the term "doctor."

sorry, BF meaning Best Friend 😉

Modern science was certainly not what made person X fall in love with me. It was a good dose of natural herbs and potions. One leg of frog, one eye of cobra, one tooth of leopard, one gizzard of dove, three drops of pig's urine, two dabs of leper's pus, one heart of cat -and boom! person X is inseparable from me. Go naturopathy! You go on with your bad self!

Great! Can you make me a potion that will get NYU to accept me??? 😉

If I recall, I believe that would be three drops of horse bile, two full yolks of ostrich, one to two drops of blind man's gonorrheal discharge and one cup of pygmy woman's breast milk. If it doesn't work on the first try, write a strong letter of interest, send it. After that make the potion again, and then add three drops of 100-yr old vinegar. That should do it.

hey! that's the same recipe i use for my perfume! i guess i'm in!

Definitely sounds like a quack to me. And I'm sure most oriental medical doctors and doctors of naturopathy do not believe in half the crap she is saying. I think this quack is a psycho with some serious mental problems whom needs to be institutionalized.
