At my school, Human Anatomy is a 100 level class unfortuntely yet there is a lot of information and studying to do obviously. What do you guys think about this? How may this look to D schools? I'm a little nervous about it but I have taken 300 Level Biology classes as a sophmore and junior. Thanks !

I didn't bother taking A&P at my school because
1. It is a nurseing major class.
2. I would have gotten 3 bio credits for a one year class.
3. I already took a 300 course on human physiology.

Though it can be useful, I just didn't have the time to take the class. I'm now taking comparative anatomy to get some gross anatomy in. I suggest taking a comparative anatomy class instead if your university offers it.

Thanks for the reply but its too late for me now! Anyone else or anyone with similar situations

Taking undergrad analogues to dental school classes is probably the best present you can give yourself. Seeing anatomy or biochem or phys for the first time while also taking 25 other credits probably isn't the best thing for most people's mental health.

This cannot be stressed enough. You cover SO much material in dental school -- if you can enter already familiar with half of it, you'll free up so much more time to really focus on the new material that is causing problems.

That's not just study time -- in lecture, if any material is review, you don't to exert a lot of brain power to that. Instead, you can use your mental energy on the material that is new. If you enter the lecture knowing half the material already, you'll leave the lecture knowing the material as well as your classmates will after then spending an additional hour or so studying.

Your profs will cram 1.5 hours worth of material into each hour of lecture time. If you know half, then you have 45 minutes of new material given to you at a nice leisurely hour long pace. If you don't know any of it, you'll miss 33% of the information, if you are lucky.

As for admissions, I can't imagine any admissions officer looking down on you for taking Anatomy because it is an "easy" class. They know it isn't easy.

Have to agree with the replies...get as much exposure to anatomy, physio, biochem, histo that you can as an undergrad...every little bit helps
