I am in little dilemma where I want to take anatomy course for my post-bacc class but I was not sure which anatomy to take:

400-level class = Comparative Anatomy of vertebrates OR 200-level class = Human Anatomy and Physiology

Comparative anatomy of vertebrates does not cover any on humans and focuses in evolutions, etc. But i thought it would look good in my transcript to have 400-level bio classes than 200-level bio class.

If anyone here has experience of taking either or both of classes, which one do you think is more helpful to take before matriculating into dental school? Is the 200-level Human Anatomy class considered to be upper level bio?

Thanks for the help!!

I would just do the 200 level class, one because its Human anatomy which is actually important for one to be a dentist and two, 200 level classes, esp anatomy are not "easy", I am sure Dental schools would like the fact that you took a anatomy course, most people tend not too,..and there is some phys with it so that's good also.

I think human anatomy and physio is definitely more relevant, even if it's a 200-level class instead of 400-level. If you had the opportunity to take human, but didn't, adcoms will probably wonder why...

I disagree with this entirely. My university's pre health programs do not require human anatomy at all, but the biomedical science track of it (which is the overwhelmingly popular major) does require either comparative anatomy or histology. I'm not disagreeing that I think human anatomy is more helpful than comparative, but I seriously doubt adcoms will stop and wonder why he doesn't have human anatomy.

Take human anatomy for sure, you want to work on humans the rest of your life and some background on their anatomy before D-School can be nothing but beneficial!

yes that class was very useful for the dat bio section

Thank you everyone for the replies. I just opted out of comparative anatomy and enrolled in Human Anatomy and Phys. Since I have taken Physiology class (only physiology), it shouldn't be too difficult as long as I memorize the structures. I was hoping school would offer the course specifically for anatomy.

I already took DAT. I took physiology class before DAT and it was very helpful for endocrine system section.
