Why does the human lens aim to focus the object onto the retina. In studying convex lens don't the light rays just converge at the focus but the image is formed before or after the focus?

If I'm interpreting your question right..

The human lens doesn't have its focus at the retina. The focus is located around 17mm behind the lens, and doesn't change. The shape of the lens itself is what changes in order to place the resulting image at the retina (much further back behind the lens) where the signal can be detected and subsequently sent to the brain for processing.
