Im interested in conflict war and disaster medicine. I want to dedicate my life to working with organizations that send medical teams around the world to act as first-ish responders to disasters such as war, earthquake, flood, refugee or internal displacements, ect. If there is anyone that is similarly interested (or not) and has come across helpful tools, organizations, information, websites, classes/programs, schools, books ect. that can assist me in preparing for my dream then please reply to this post and help me, and anyone else interested, out. Thank you

Doctors without borders is a famous organization that put physicians in pretty messed up places.

But if you want to be in war-torn regions. There is no organization for that. It's either you go on your own. For example what's going on in Aleppo, Syria. A civil war where thousands of physicians fled, but a few remained and a few British physicians went down there to help. But you will be targeted or at least the hospitals and there are chances for getting arrested etc or more likely killed.

Even a few U.S soldiers - a former Ranger after his active duty was over he went down to Lebanon on the border between Syria and Lebanon to aid the sick and wounded. That place is a little safer. But if you want to get involved in real scenarios there is no organization - you'd have to convince people to risk their lives to go with you or join the ones who stayed and devoted their life to medicine.

Out of curiosity, doesn't the military/army hire doctors to serve on the field? Don't they need doctors for the soldiers in war?

Serving on the lines with troops in the military is too much of a liability for the military because you being government property cost too much to train etc. Also, if one were to take the HPSP or any military financial help to pay full tuition for pay off loans for medical school then they will never take that risk, but there have been rare exceptions with some physicians being attached to a Navy Seal unit or is also ranger qualified, but that still doesn't mean one may deploy with them.

The closest a physician in the military will get to the battlefield is being deployed to an aid station which is miles and and miles away from the action taking care of the sick and wounded accompanied with other healthcare professionals.

Navy/Hospital corpsman for (navy and marines) and combat medics for (army) serve on the battlefield attached to units assigned to the line. The enlisted side does the majority of the work in the military. As a physician you will be a commissioned officer at the rank of Captain or higher, they spend too much on you to put you out there.
