Is it a good idea to choose a humanities major in college ? I speak English as my second language and I do not like to read and write in English. And I hate math too 😡.

I think you answered your own question. If you don't like reading and writing in English, don't pursue majors that require lots of reading and writing in English. 👍

Well, I don't like math either 🙁. That's the problem.

There's always tap dancing.

Kidding. How about a language? Other than English and your first language, of course.

...or something other than math and humanities. Psych, bio, biochem, music, and some chemistry tracks come to mind. It's worth noting, though, that even in my intro chem classes I wrote more than in any of the upper-level humanities courses I took. You're going to get a healthy dose of stuff you don't like no matter what, so, in a sense, picking a major is probably going to be more about damage control than outright avoiding things you don't like.

Did you mean you wrote many essays and stuff in your intro chem class ?

Yep, 6-8 page lab reports just about every week. The longest non-science paper I wrote in all of college was 12 pages, If I remember correctly. On the other hand, I cranked out several lab reports that broke 20 pages.

Any upper level class is going to have writing. Science writing is easier, a more limited vocabulary.

Does physical education/ Exericise major require a lot of writing too ?
