It is late in the application process and I am still waiting to hear back from every school that I applied to (other than the 2 rejections that I received presecondary). I received seven secondary applications, but haven't heard a word from any of those schools. A couple schools are still holding for a letter of recommendation or two that have not been submitted yet. I know for sure that one school is holding out for my new MCAT score that I will be taking in January.

Does anyone else feel like they are at a stand still with rejections/interviews, or do you feel that no news it good news?

What schools are you waiting on? If you indicated that you are re-taking the MCAT, a lot of places will just wait on your application until they have the new score, although they may not tell you this.

i'm still waiting and my secondaries were completed end of oct-nov. i've only received an interview invite to one school. still waiting to hear from the other 9 schools...

I am waiting on PCOM-GA, LMU-DCOM, PCSOM, Mizzou (allo), SLU (allo), KU (allo). KCOM is holding until January scores are released. Maybe the others are holding also. I know for sure that Mizzou will not hold for new scores.

Yes, I was complete at the end of October, other than the couple of schools that are waiting for the two letters of recommendation.

I guess it is just a waiting game. I am not a very patient person....😱

Yea, I'd just say be as patient as you possibly can - there's a crunch right now because a large portion of those in the "40-yr-old virgin" forum (thanks for that one TexTri) have overflowed into the AACOMAS system and I'd say the schools are inundated with applications at the moment. The holidays are also slowing everything down considerably.

I'd also say that no news isn't good news at all, at least for me. Even though I'm fortunate to have a few acceptances with which to work (long overdue for me!), I've yet to receive a rejection from any school out of the 10 or so to which I applied which means I'm probably going to remain on the "deferred/hold" lists until the bitter end, after I've already paid deposit(s). Bottom line is that this game is tough, no doubt. Hang in there.

received another interview invite yesterday!

Yay! Congrats! I'm in the same boat. I have had 2 interviews, and have one here at PCOM in feb, but other than that I have yet to hear from my other 5 schools. I was put on hold at KCOM and VCOM until they recieved my first trimester grades from my masters program, and those were sent out 2 weeks ago. I still haven't heard back, so we'll see...

i was pretty slow to send in my stuff, too. i just got most of my secondaries in at the end of november and early december. in addition, i just learned that my PCOM supplemental was incomplete and had to resend it today! that sucks pretty bad because it's definitely one of my top choices, and now i just hope that it's not too late...

runner are you pretty much expecting to get interviews after your new MCAT scores are released? I'm wondering because I kind of feel that's how it may go for me. I'm trying to make a decision about telling one school that I'm retaking so I don't get outright rejected when my husband has an interview coming up.

Congrats Soccer!!!

EEL, I only contacted one school to inform them of the retake (actually I contacted two, but one won't take the new score). I mean, I don't mind if they wait, I am just tired of the waiting and my life being on hold for next year, you know? I have no clue where in the United States I will be or anything. I guess that's the name of the game, but the stress is making me crazy 😱 I am the type of person that likes everything to be planned out several months ahead of time, so not knowing makes me stress. I considered not even telling KCOM about the retake, but the school is the close to my home and I figured it wouldn't hurt to put my app on hold at just one school. I am not telling the others about it. Good luck to you with your retake! Jan 25th or 26th?

OP, I submitted my apps in June with my first MCAT score. I didnt hear a peep except from Vandy and VCU (rejected...imagine that...) before probably middle of October when my second MCAT scores were released. I probably got five secondaries in a week. I would call the schools and check. It cant hurt... Plus not having all of your LORs in is slowing things down as well, I had that same problem. Best of luck to ya!

Which school won't take the new score? Are you worried about just being rejected outright without even a hold? I think that's my concern and the risk I took when I decided not to mention it. I've been rejected pre-secondary at one school and post-secondary at 3. I will be retaking on January 25 and hopefully that score will be high enough that I won't need to take it for a 3rd time if I have to reapply next year which I'm open to. I definitely understand wanting to know where you'll be. I feel the same way. Hopefully it won't be too much longer before my husband and I can start planning our move.

What are you going to do if you get in somewhere and your husband doesnt? I'm sure you all have thought of this, I'm just being nosy. And curious. 🙂

Well I think that's highly unlikely but we have thought a lot about all the different possible scenarios. If I got in somewhere and he didn't we would more than likely move so I could go to school but we would talk about which school(s) it might be if I end up getting more interviews.

And if I remember correctly, if he gets in and you dont you are gonna try again next year for that school, correct? Sorry to be so nosy, just interested 🙂.

I don't mind. You can ask me any questions you want. 🙂 If he gets in and I don't, which is the more likely situation just based on # of interviews alone, he will attend and I will reapply to that school. If it's a place that has other schools around I will probably apply to those as well. I'm very interested and eager to find out how everything will turn out. I will definitely keep everyone up-to-date of course. 😀

Basically, we're not willing to live apart. When I think about those of you (basically everyone) who are only applying by yourselves it seems like it would be so easy!

I am mainly concerned about getting rejected post secondary. Mizzou won't take the January score (allo school). The only reason why I am so worried about post secondary is because it costs so much money for them to just throw your application aside, you know? I would rather get rejected presecondary if they are not going to be intestered than have them send everyone a secondary app....then I could apply that money for application fees for next year.

I am all for reapplying next year if need be. What is another year when the career is for your entire life?? No big deal. If I have to reapply, I will just work on my teaching certificate and teach as an alternate career. I was already a scientist for the state of Missouri and it was boring,👎 so I know that I don't like that route. We sold our house and I quit my career to return to school postbacc, so I am going to make something out of it.

I can only imagine your stress EEL, trying to make one place work for two people. It is hard enough for one person to get in, let alone two. I feel for you! :luck:
