Can you ask ROS/hx questions during or after the physical exam on step 2 CS?

Would you get any points off for doing so?

I occasionally forget certain history questions and remember them during or after the physical exam. Also, I find it easier for timing purposes to get through basic history+physical and then ask some nuanced questions afterwards.

Is that a bad strategy?

It is a horrible strategy. You ask qs first so you have an idea of possible differential diagnosis and they point you out to which systems you need to do the physical. Write down your mnemonics to your sheet before every encounter so you dont forget to ask anything. If you actually remember something else. Ask after the physical.

assuming the CS is similar to the COMLEX PE: it isn’t the best strategy, but if you realize something you forgot to ask during the physical exam, it’s okay to do it then.
