I have been reading HY Neuro by Fix (4th edition) and have recently noted a lot of errors in the figures of Chapter 21. This has led me to question the usefulness/quality of the book in terms of the other chapters (I may not have picked up those earlier errors).

Does anyone know of an errata for this book?

Hey! Yea, I agree, I really want to find the errata for this book. Specifically, what errors did you come across? I had a problem with pg. 160: D. Transcortical Motor Aphasia.

It says Poor comprehension on pg. 160 whereas on the previous chart on pg. 159, it fell under good comprehension.

I thought I recognized some earlier but unfortunately ignored them (how could I as a medical student question an author who is clearly more knowledgeable than me). But Ch 21 took the cake...the labels for figures 21-2, 21-3, and 21-4 don't seem to match the figures at all. Some of the things don't appear in the figures either. Really frustrating.

Also not so much an error but really a lack of use of clear coloring...on page 102, the way the visual field stuff is represented is different. If you realize that the black/white used to show what part of an image projects onto the retina aren't related to the black/white coloring scheme of visual field defects then it makes sense.

FYI, HY neuro (and all of the HY series for that matter) absolutely suck for step-1. I read 4 of their books and was displeased by all of them. All of the relevant information for step 1 neuro is in FA.

Brewmeister, can you comment on what the other 3 you read were and why they sucked? The only other one I read was HY behavioral science and that seemed okay.

HY Molecular--too much detail in some things; not enough in others
HY biochem--Missing intermediates of reactions, etc...author assumes expert knowledge
HY Behavioral--not terrible but all info needed is in FA---way too much info for Step

For biochem/molecular, pick up Goljan RR biochem...hidden gem of all review books

Can you comment on RR Biochem vs. Kaplan Biochem?
