Normally carbocation rearrangements occur when alkenes are hyrated with H2O/acid
I just saw a questions which would have had a more stable product if a rearrangement reoccured, but the answer did not have it occur.... is this because its COLD dilute acid as opposed to just acid? I can't confirm this in any of my books, and haven't found an answer via internet searches...
I would think the rearrangement should occur... opinions/clarifications?
thanks!! 🙂
