Is it due to ACTH acting on MSH receptors OR that MSH & ACTH are both produced from the precursor POMC?

I believe that both are formed from POMC, which is why whenever you upregulate ACTH production, you always get MSH production along with it. They both come from the same precursor. POMC = pre-opiomelanocorticotropin? I think...

According to a UWORLD question I did a while back, POMC is cleaved into ACTH and MSH.

Haha... I was just going through UW Asst #1. It said that ACTH acts on the MSH receptor. 😱
