Say an applicant had an overall g.p.a of a 3.52, a BCP g.p.a of a 3.88, a total science g.p.a of a 3.74, and non science of a 3.6 along with 1.5 to 2 years work experience for a dentist, along with a 20/20 on the DAT's, how competitive if at all, would this applicant be? Would he have a chance at Columbia, Penn, NYU etc?

You would definetly get into NYU depending on when you applied.

Its not me. I dont ave these stats. Heck, I am about to begin my science pre-req's in a couple of months. I just wanted to know if an applicant with these stats would have a very good shot at some good schools such as Columbia. Thanks in advance.

It's great that you are just starting your science pre-req's: aim high. If you do achieve such grades then I think you stand a very good chance at many schools, including Columbia. That's my two cents.

You wouldnt get into any of the three. A red flag would go up regarding your GPA. How do you have an overall GPA of 3.52 when your non-science GPA is 3.6, your science GPA is 3.74 and your BCP is 3.88? You wouldnt even get an interview at those schools. Come on dude! Reality check...even though your hypo GPAs are off, those stats would get you into any school...o sea if you didnt get in it wouldnt be b/c of your stats.

Man, there are a lot of newbie this week. This question is soooo oooollllddddddd!

 word.
i will admit that i asked these questions when i first joined sdn. i didn't understand at the time why everyone threw rotten tomatos at my question, but now i do. my advice to everyone is look at the schools you're interested in websites for their average incoming stats and then decide for yourself if you are competitive, and for all you with a 3.5+ and all 20+, you are competitive everywhere. i think this will be the last time i respond to a "what are my chances" thread.
