Are there any other unemployed dentists out there? I've applied to corporate positions as well as public health positions. Just got rejected from 20 IHS spots as well in remote areas... I'm currently 9 months out from graduation and I have not been able to find any full time job. Gov positions rejected me because of lack of work experience. Every job I apply to there is always another candidate with far more experience who usually burned out from owning and now wants to associate. I have applied to regions in the middle of nowhere. No connections, but I strong grades. Am I really the only unemployed dentist with licenses in good standing

Reach out to dental recruiters. Their job is to place you in a practice, that's how they get paid. There are so many recruitment agencies. Have you tried ETSDental, Henry Schein, etc. Email them and look at your local dental society and email them as well if you see any openings. Shouldn't take you 9 months to find something.

There's a few guys on dental town who are looking for associates. Go there and see what's available.

If your definition of a job is full time employment by 1 employer then good luck with that.

Otherwise you take a day of work here at office A, two days there at office B, one day over there at office C, and fill your schedule that way.

What states are you licensed in?

Almost all places I've seen require at least 3-5 years of experience, or a GPR/AEGD.

Why does IHS require this for dentists but are so eager to have legislation pump out more dental therapists? The hypocrisy of our government and politicians is maddening.

Not sure how you can continue this way for the next 30 years. Is the idea to open your own practice as soon as possible or switch fields?

You can't even find part time work?? so depressing. Let me go cry over my compounding interest loans D:

Because to supervise the mid-levels you need an experienced dentist.
But isn't the point of mid levels according to legislation due to the inability of getting any dentists into the clinic?

Sounds like a troll. It's not hard to find a job in dentistry, if you're willing to settle for something less than ideal right out of the gates. Work in a corporate practice for a couple years, then guess what... you might be a better candidate for a better one. Sorry to sounds rude, but there are job postings EVERYWHERE that explicitly say they will hire dentists without experience.

I'm not a troll. It's easy to make this accusation when you see someone posting something different or something that makes you uncomfortable. Many of those job postings are somewhat misleading (where exactly are you finding postings). Dental systems?

Personally I'm not looking for a private practice gig as I am in the public sector but I keep getting letters from practices, both small practices and corporate ones, and old classmates who are looking for new associates.

It sounds like you are in a competitive market. Maybe it's time to relocate?
What city are you in?
Can't even find a part time job also?

Have you tried the big corporate chains?

Check the classifieds on dentaltown or you can always just call up practices to see if they are looking to hire.

Your post does not make any sense. There are so many jobs out there. I just went through a job search and I was bombarded with offers. My status now is "not actively seeking" and at least few times a week I get phone calls or emails with job offers.

Are you a new grad? It's different if you have experience

If you are having that much difficulty, perhaps you should consider a general practice residency program. Now only will you make some money but you will gain invaluable experience that will make you more competitive.
