I want to study to take the MCAT. I am not taking classes this summer because I want to take the exam. Is there a way that I can do good without reading tons of review books? I am not very good at reading thick books but am a very good visual learner and do good if I practice alot. I got A's and B's in all my science courses. I have seen threads that say read berkeley review books but I saw them and they are way too much detailed and too much excessive information in them and would take me hours to read just one chapter. What approach would you guys recommend for me?

Practice practice practice.
Take AAMC exams on e-mcat.com and identify your weaknesses. Concentrate your studying in those areas. Since you'll not be studying things you already know (having gotten A's and B's in your science courses), you'll not have to spend so much time studying. Also, the practice MCATs themselves will help you get experience working problems.

... I'm a great fan of practice MCATs...

There is a 3 month program. http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=623898

I'm not taking the MCAT until December so I'm taking it slow and doing my own thing by studying 2-3 hours a day on my days off work. Toward the end of the summer I'll start taking practice tests then review/relearn anything I do poorly on.

I agree with you on TBR. There is so much (too much?) information and I don't like their teaching method. I just started TPR organic chemistry today and it looks a lot more succinct, so maybe try your luck with all TPR books.

I don't have any experience using these, but a lot of people on the forum seem to like Examkrackers MCAT books. I heard they are good for an overview if you are comfortable with the material and not as in depth as some other review books.

I'm also a similar learner, I can see a diagram of mitosis and make sense of it quickly, but as soon as I encounter a page of text my mind can't focus as well. Best of luck.
