I am deciding to change my professsion from dentistry to becoming a PT due to personal reasons.
I will have take all the prerequisite courses.I want to know how difficult these courses are coz i am totally out of touch with studies....What are my chances of getting into DPT program with GRE score of only 990 and GPA in dentistry of 3.89??
How diffficult is the 3 year DPT course...i v learnt its a 8 to 5 course???
I am very nervous..is there anyone else who has taken such a bold decison??There is just 1 dental school while 2 PT schools in my city in Texas..is getting ito DPT course as difficult and competetive as dentistry??How about the money that a DPT makes??

Ha! I remembered when I first volunteered and shadowed a dentist one summer. It didn't take long to scratch dentistry off my career list.

Oh ya, you are in dental school now right??? I'm sure you've knocked out most of the prerequisites like chemistry, physics, stats/calculus, biology, etc... to prepare for the DAT right? The prerequisites are not that difficult. Just time consuming. You might want to slightly volunteer in a PT setting before committing unless you have already done so. What year of dental school are you in?

I agree, the prereqs shouldn't be more difficult than the ones you had to take for dentist school. Your gpa is excellent but I would suggest retaking the gre. Many schools want you to have at least 1000 on it. Most PT schools are 8 to 5. Where I'm going they're changing it to 8 to 3, which is awesome! I wouldn't say it's really tough to get in, but you do have to work hard and it is somewhat difficult, but they are just preparing you for PT school! The average salary is 65,000. If you have any more q's, feel free to ask. 🙂
