I am officially going insane...

How else can you justify checking the same status website 30 times a day?

How else can you justify going to the forums in sdn frequently, b/c a friend told you a rumour that somone had once posted because they needed to switch with someone when their Michigan interview is, since they couldn't make their earlier date?

I think U of M is trying to torture me. They were the first school to reply to me, after my August MCAT score came out, yet my interview is still more then a month away! (Jan 21st). How can they expect me to wait that long, os many months!!!! Anyone here got a time machine that I could borrow? Nothing else is important between now and Jan 21st, I'll skip it all (yeh even that Christmas stuff, family, New Years, etc!!!!)

you wanna play this online fantasy game? it helps me get my mind off this crueling process. oh....booze works too. two bottles of white russian in my fridge and since uc davis broke myheart today...im gonna down both bottles tonight 👍

You think this is bad? Wait until after you interview and you constantly check web statuspage/email/snail mail to see if they have responded to you yet. Relax. You alredy have an interview so that means you got your foot in the door. Enjoy the holidays!

see thats the problem, is that you already have had an interview. so while its break, there is no school, what do i do? I am not relaxing, I am checking a status page every fricken day, when you know they will be on vacation too, not updating it!

yes life does not begin with medical school. but that does not mean it is not something that is stressfull... people want to know where they will be in 6 months from now! you're life is going to change- and not knowing where you will be makes it stressfull.

as for the online fantasy game... for some reason i am much more into older games. i got my NESticle emulator, my GBA with Zelda, and my civilization, im set 🙂 that is how i get through classes too 😉

Ah yes, i still enjoy a game of Contra, Gradius, Metroid, Punchout, RC Pro Am, Kung Fu, and Kid Icarus at least once a week.

I loved CONTRA 🙂 I soooo need an old school Nintendo. I have a PS2, but its just not the same.

They have emulators available for the PC or (modded Xbox and PS2) If you own the original game, it is not illegal for you to download the ROMs and play the games again, without the system 😎

please don't down two bottles. so sorry about uc davis; it seems like they are rejecting a lot of good deserving students 👎

For me, the worst part of the entire process is opening the mailbox every day with the anticipation that a letter from a med school might be inside. But no, I receive only a plethora of catalogs and credit card offers. I can't wait until the day when I can approach the mailbox without thinking that what's inside may hold my future.

it's even worse for me; i work full time so my parents/sis open the mailbox; then they porceed to open the mail; it bites...

Actually, according to Nintendo that is still illegal. I wish i never got rid of my old nintendo though, its just not the same. Computer controllers dont feel right, and the emulators dont respond the same to the controllers. Remember those controllers, you'd get pissed off at the game and just throw them down on the ground; theyd never break! Learned the hard way that SNES was not the same!

Man, I tell you, I am going to go to a GameStop and buy a NES and SNES, and get my favorite games. Thats the first thing I am going to do when I move to wherever I will be next year. In med school, you need something to relieve some stress. I think a little Legend of Zelda would work. Dodgeball, now that was a good game. Anyone have that one? For some reason, a lot of people never heard of it. But then again, NES was when systems were around for like 8 years, and had hundreds of games.

I connected my laptop to a tv, used two controllers, and played NES baseball with my friend at school all night last semester. Incredible graphics 😉

 This describes me to a tee!! It really sucks when I see as I'm driving up that there's a larger envelope (you know . . . like it MIGHT be interview info), only to see it's some junk mail offer. I have a love-hate relationship with my mail right now.

Of course i remember dodgeball! Haha, super dodgeball for the gameboy advance is a remake of that. i also loved river city ransom, from the same company that made dodgeball. Can't remember which one it is. I use the Xbox emulator, and it actually works really well with the d-pad and two buttons.

it's tough to find NES games, especially ones that are fully functional. Time has caused a lot of the chips to oxidize and what not, so they don't work well. try to hit up a flea market or garage sale. That's where i rediscovered a lot of my childhood favorites.

I concur! What's getting to me now is my housemate recently took the GREs, and she's getting recruitement mail from lots of schools, some from the universities I'm applying to. Yesterday there was a big envelope and I freaked out.....until I realized it was addressed to her.

It's gonna be a weird 3 weeks during the holidays when I'm at home home and not checking my mailbox everyday!
