I wouldn't attribute your waitlists to the fact you're an August Mcater. The fact that you've gone to 8 interviews already should tell you that, and because of this I would assume your stats are fairly decent. Maybe you should examine how your interview skills are. You may have gotten a good impression, but the interviewer didn't. If this is the case, you may want to figure out why. Maybe go through a mock interview and see if the interviewer can provide you with any explanations.

Which 8 schools?

Yeah, if it's the 8 most selective schools in the country, or 8 highly competitive out-of-state schools, then you're not doing bad! You'll just have to wait for someone to make you an offer.

I would definantly agree. Assess your interviewing skills. However, I interviewed at Ohio State in October and thought I had an excellent interview and was put on hold. However, I eventually got accepted. I would just say wait till March, at least one accpetance will come of those "holds." (Assuming you mean "hold" by wait list)

Yeah... same here. I was at Ohio St. in mid-december and got the impression that my interviewer thought I was the "second coming of Christ." But, they still waitlisted my ass 🙁 Of course, my #'s are right along their avg's, so maybe that's why.

The outcome of your situation can vary depending on the actual schools that waitlisted you.

If you are waitlisted at schools that dig deep in their waitlist to fill their classes then you should have an acceptance by May. If not then you could face rejection after rejection.

There are ways to deal with waitlists but at the moment all you can do is wait and try to show strong interest at each and every of the schools. Try calling/emailing them and remind them that you are still alive.
