Hi everyone:

I just took my DAT today, and here are my scores:

PAT 22
QR 22
RC 16
BIO 17
GC 20
OC 20
TS 19
AA 19

Note regarding RC: I was out of time, and I could not finish my third passage. Actually English is my second language and I am a slow reader. I wish I could do better!

Can you please give me some feedback. My GPA is 3.68. I graduated from UC-Berkeley at Biochemical Engineering. I have Master's degree at Biochemical Engineering. I do have research experience, and I have also shadowed a dentist for two months.

Since I live in California, I was hoping to stay in California. Can you tell me about my chances for California schools? I also plan to apply to UNLV and NYU since I know how competitive California schools are! I appreciate to let me know about my chances for UNLV or NYU too.

Thank you!

I think you did well, although RC is on the low side.

I am not sure about California schools though. They are after all, pretty darn competitive.

Same with goes with UNLV, OOS is usually held to higher standard. However, your should be able to get an interview from NYU, imo.

Are you gonna apply to USC?

You are a strong candidate. Just get ready to apply for the next cycle. You should be able to get interviews from schools. Apply to all the schools in your own state and some from others. Be flexible, if you have to go out of state at least it will be for only 4 yrs and you will still be a dentist.

Jigabodo,

Thanks for your responce.Yes, I plan to apply for USC.

Your scores are ok, but the CA are really hard to get into. You need to have a really complete/well rounded application. Apply early.

Jeez,
no wonder people are scared of SDN. 19-20 is considered solid scores.

You got solid scores! I think you have a chance for Cali schools.

Dental schools really like engineering major students. You also graduated from a nice school. I think you are chances are good! You can also apply for ASDOH, UNLV if you want to stay on the west coast!

I would say you definitely have a chance at California schools, but you need to apply early.....

why do they like engineering students???

b/c engineering is a demanding major...and you better be smart and a strong critical thinker to do decently in engineering...all requisites for cutting it in dental school
