I can't concentrate in school now that primaries are submitted.

Last year I took 37 units of pure science coursework (Gen Bio, Ochem, Genetics, Physics, Cell Bio, Physio, etc...) and managed a 3.7 and 3.6 for the Fall and Spring Semesters. I did this on top of research, volunteering, and dealing with a girl I had a super crush on. I studied all summer for the MCAT and did a solid 30. My letters are done, my prereqs besides Biochem are done, and my primary is submitted.

Now my brain's shut down. I'm taking the easiest courseload I've had since I graduated college many years ago, 3 units of Biochem and 9 units of fluff classes. I've been a bum, just got a D on my first Biochem test and don't feel the urgency I would've felt had I performed like that the previous school year. All I think about is how I'm going to travel next semester, see the sights, and bang a whole bunch of girls.

Can someone scare me into studying please.

Are you me, 2.5 years ago? Weird.

But I hope things work out for you better than they did for me, at that time. I had an unsuccessful app season and got a C+ in Biochem (II).

As for scaring you into studying, if you actually pay attention in Biochem right now, you'll have a slightly less difficult time in first year. Plus you don't want to have to retake the class next semester if you get less than a C. Nor do you want to have to defend your performance if you have to apply again.

Chocolate Bear, just how old are you???

Scare you.. youu wil have to turn in a transcript after you are accepted and if your grades are much different than what they have been you can lose your acceptance. SCARED NOW????:scared:

Seriously, some how you have to fight that senioritis during the application cycle. Its hard. I remember! Take care and good luck

You sound exactly like me. Crazy high GPA last year with a crazy hard course load, studied all summer for teh mcat and got a 30, taking a somewhat easier class load this semester (still 19 credits however), submitted all the apps including most secondaries, and finding it very difficult to give a ****.

I know I gotta maintain a high GPA in case med schools want to see this years transcript and I think I can still do it, but it really is hard to care. It feels like this year my classes are especially worthless, even moreso than in previous years.

I hear with the "primaryitis --> senioritis" Im taking biochem right now and just got first exam back woo hoo 90% and ive been to class 3 times lol professor is the worst soo..I teach myself

Im feeling the same thing..I cant imagine how much worse it will get if I get accepted😳

I'm in that boat...got accepted this week and now I really don't want to study. Guess I've got to suck it up and get it done anyways...

As someone said, biochem will be TONs easier if you pay attention and learn it now. Pay especially close attention to DNA and the TCA Cycle (memorize it).

These early acceptances are really gonna kill me when it comes to attending classes....As of now I find it more imperative to attend the local happy hours than go to my classes

Man, I really feel for the OP. I just got an acceptance and am waiting to hear back from a couple more schools within a month. I'm only taking 3 credits and working a little. I can't focus on my job or on in my class. Every time I pick up a book I start thinking about moving to a new place, about how awesome it will be to start med school, & all the opportunities out there, etc....

Almost seems like I'm finding reasons to vegitate and just enjoy the fact that I'm gonna be a doc. I think this is made worse cause I'm making travel/vacation plans in the next couple months.

Lol agreed. Hard to be motivated after acceptance. It's like "why am I studying this".......ahhh I'm struggling with you all.
