Sometimes I zone out in class, I can't stay focused while reading my textbook and when I manage to actually sit down and do some work I'll get distracted within minutes and I have to force myself back to doing what I was doing.

I also just dread having to do homework if its not something that I find easy and its starting to effect my grades, which are already poor to begin with.

Not sure how to proceed, this is something new (it started late last semester and its carried over to this semester). Anyone else like this? or is it just laziness? I'm kinda lost right now.

Sounds like you need to reassess what you're doing along with your career goals.

Has ADD/ADHD been an issue?

Nope, and that's what I don't get. I'm a sophomore so I'm used to how college is so its not like a freshman struggling to adjust, I just don't know what it is.

Have you asked your doctor about it? Sounds like what I had (and still sort of do)- was diagnosed with ADD, although I don't take medication. However, I've tried it and it works wonders for concentration.
I also find exercise helps (especially cardio) if you haven't tried that. Less jittery while studying afterwards.

Went to the doctor a few days ago, they told me to get a blood test and if that comes up ok then they'll look into other things.

go to your school's learning center asap.

part of it is motivatiional and you have to want it bad enough. this includes taking the steps to check out your mental health (ADD/ADHD) and evaluating academic skills/study habbits

every additional day you don't make change is another day that you've further reinforced bad habbits

Yep what @kb1900 said, you either have ADD/ADHD or you're not motivated enough.

Motivation is a big factor.
Write down your list of goals you want to achieve.
Then write a feasible and tested plan to achieve them.

Then you know what your going for and that could make the studies easier.

Do you have things that are outside of academics that are bothering you?

What's changed since last semester? And what have you already tried doing to fix it?
