You did not use HF. That thing is so incredibly toxic and corrosive, that they would never let a college freshman touch it.

nm: I see that someone other than the OP mentioned the HF. Still, why would you use HF?

We used ~10 M HF in my research lab. It destroys silicone oxide bonds. It was a geochem lab.

Also, if you go to chemical distributers websites, lots give MSDS of the chemicals they sell. Wiki probably has it too. Check out the websites of places like Fisher Scientific, VWR, there's another

Sigma-Aldrich might be the one you were thinking of. So OP, you can check that site too. I still feel like I'm forgetting another one, though. If you just google MSDS you get tons of stuff.
