Question above, designed a small app and learned coding in my spare time. How would I put this on my application if the app is not running in the Play store or Apple store just yet? Would it be seen as a huge plus on my ECs on my application?

My GPA and DAT score is very average for an international applicant (20 AA, 3.5 GPA, Canadian), so I'm grinding to pull up my EC portion because I know I'm extremely well rounded. I also got struck by a truck in my second year leading to a lower back injury, is there any way they would factor this in? Is there any proof I need to provide (I have police records of the incident)

I would leave it out, almost looks too try hard in my opinion since you haven't published it. Just put down you've been learning coding.

Might have a deep interest but a dental app that isnt on the market for anyone to benefit or learn from looks gimmicky..

Do not put this in your application. If this were factored in admissions (which it probably wouldn't be), it would be to discriminate against you, not help you. Having a bad back is well-known to end dentists' careers prematurely.

And make sure this stuff stays off your medical records, or else you will not be able to get a good life/disability insurance policy.

I would put APP developer in extra-curriculars and then put develop dental app in description.

It comes off as a non-hobby, something you did just to put into your application. So it has no real life benefits that a dental app may provide, but you use it anyways.

Not saying I see it this way but worst case scenario, the adcoms may see it this way. Put app developping as a hobby and develop not just dental apps and maybe put one in the playstore. That way its more legit than "just something to fill the dental applications empty spaces that I may have put no effort in".

What exactly does the app do? I would put it on if I were you, why not?

If you were rollin in deep in them benjamins, then they may question your passion for dentistry. Yes, dentistry attracts tryhards but if you try TOO hard, then it's repulsive.

Dentistry is almost like dating women: you wanna put your best foot forward, but they can sense it when you try too hard to impress them 😉
