....but..I've been reading about schools etc to try to decide which med schools to apply to..So I was wondering..Which schools did you guys pick to apply to and why?...I'm curious plus I think that would be of great help! thanks!! 🙂

I've been thinking a lot about this too lately (it's that time of year!) and here's my take on it for what it's worth... Region is big for me - I want to stay close to my family so that narrows it down quite a bit. Obviously I will apply to my undergrad and my in-state schools. From there I just looked through the MSAR for schools in the Midwest that roughly matched my stats. Also ask around at your university and see where students from your school have had good luck... I've found that a lot of people from my school seem to go to other Jesuit schools for med school - maybe there is a similar trend at your school. I'm probably applying to too many schools, but hopefully I'll only apply once, so I might as well have plenty of options. Hope that helped somewhat! Good luck

A lot of schools give preference to residents; this includes private schools. I would suggest applying to almost every school in your state of residency. After that, look for schools with comparable stats that you are interested in. Just like what ya did for college. Do look at the fine print. Some schools will state they will not accept out of state students. They will however, gladly take your $.

I would generally avoid out-of-state public schools. I suggest categorizing your choices into three groups: Safety, Match, and Reach. Research the MSAR and/or go to individual school websites for more information.

Apply to all your state schools, those are usually your best bet.

After state schools I looked at all the schools in the geographic areas I wanted to be (great lakes and NE, although I made an exception for a couple schools) and applied to the ones that I liked.
