So its nearly eleven o'clock and I am going to be eaten by the pcat in a matter of hours. I should have studied much more than I did, but its my first time to take the test, and I have had neither Organic nor Biology two.

Oh well, I guess I'll give it what I got. Im up later than I should be but there was one thing that I saw today that brought me to a new conclusion:

TOM CRUISE IS BIGGEST IDIOT I HAVE EVER LAID EYES UPON!

I mean seriously, we have Maverick from Top Gun gettin on national television to state that, "There is no such thing as a chemical imbalance."

Tom since when are you an MD? What school of medicine was it that you attended?

I'm not sure how many pamphlets(or whatever he called them) that ole Tommy has read on these "anti psychotic drugs"; however, one thing that I now know is true is that TOM CRUISE doesnt know his ass from six apples.

I guess thats about it... Thanks for listening

I Agree!!! He calls psychiatry psuedoscience. To him I say: just because you can't see an odor, doesn't mean that a smell does not exist. It is the same for science of the mind; just because it can't be measured in a "blood test", doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. A patient's mental state is measured in their own mental awarness, as well as by their actions.

Vitamins and exercise, huh. I would like to see Tom go to a mental hospital and have the schizophrenic patients take some vitamins and work out, and then see how well his theory will work.

I think that prozac, paxil, zoloft, etc. are probably over prescribed to people who don't need them. I am sure chemical imbalances do exist in some people but I do not think that they could exist in the millions (upon millions?) of people who take these powerful drugs (and therefore provide a powerful market for the drug).

I think for some people they really just need an attitude adjustment. I have had depression off and on since i was 13 but rely on exercise, hobbies etc to keep it in check rather than meds.

edit: a friend of mine once said "i have depression and tried taking the meds but they just made me not care about anything at all so i stopped taking them"

She managed to do ok without them too.

speaking of Tom Cruise, whenever I see Katie Holmes in an interview I just think to myself- man she looks crazy. Anyone else get that vibe?

they both look mad as march hares.

you are not alone

i feel sorry for katie holmes...and tom too. I think she is too young for him

I would have stayed with Nicole if I was him.

I agree. I think that I might assume they both had some sort of chemical imbalance :meanie:

As said in my neck of the woods, "Them kids, they just ain't right"

Well i just got done taking the pcat. I feel alright about it I guess but i know i didnt do good.

Anyways... about the tom cruise thing.

I definately agree that anti depressants are over perscribed. I think that in a time of depression, in which we all have, I could visit the doctor and he may tell me that I could use an anti depressant.

However, isn't depression, which is a natural part of all of our lifes, a temporary chemical imbalance?

I think that I see both sides of the story. Of course its not great that our kids are on Adderal and Ritilan, and we may not trully know the definite longterm effects of these drugs, but there are many perspectives through which one could see this problem.

But vitamin's and exercise? Give me a break. It's easy to think that all you need is exercise when you look like Tom Cruise.

I also am a believer in the techniques that some psychologists use. In certain instances, these techniques can definately be used to control mental problems, but does anyone actually beleive that these can be used in all cases.

I hope this doesnt make me sound ignorant, but some people have the ability to control their mental disabilities better than others. In a case in which someone doesnt handle their problems well, medicine can help them.

Of course these medicines are perscribed too much.... Of course there are ways to control your mental problems without using drugs.... But the fact of the matter is, different treatments work better for different patients.

Tom Cruise is narrow minded person who doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground. On top of it all, I have read that in this.... "Scientology??" the believers are against using pharmaceuticals.
Not to mention all of the other CRAP that Cruise believes in.

I'd like to see how strong their "We don't believe in pharmaceuticals" attitude was if any one of them were to be involved in a car accident and rushed to the hospital. The fact of the matter is, with medicine, we can improve and save the lives of many people.

All in all, you would be more likely to get me to agree that OJ was not guilty than you would in getting me to agree with Tom Cruise's argument that "There is no such thing as a chemical imbalance."

cruise is entitled to his opinion though.

I never had to take the PCAT, but i've been wondering, is it worse than the SAT's (as far as length/difficulty at the relative levels/and stress)?

Tom Cruise is a pompass idiot who thinks that he is the smartest person alive. I don't know where he thought of this stuff--did yall see the interveiw--I think that my jaw was on the floor the whole time.

I stressed a lot more about the PCAT than the SATs. I blew off the SATs because in Texas all of the top 10% is automatically accepted into all public schools. 😀
