Hi,

I signed up for an Interfolio Dossier account to receive my LORs.

Especially for my non-science letter writer who may not be used to Interfolio, I want to give her a little one sentence synopsis on how to send the letter to Interfolio and that I'll distribute it to schools from there.

The problem with this is that I have no idea how Interfolio works from the other side.

Help?

Thanks!

When my LoR writers agreed to write me an LoR, I just replied saying "thanks blah blah blah, you should be getting a second email from Interfolio momentarily with instructions on how to upload" and then I'd add them to my Interfolio contacts.

If you don't know how to do that, you sign into Dossier -> Letters -> + Request a Letter -> Add New Contact -> Check the "This request is for a confidential letter or evaluation" box -> Fill out Due Date (I set mine as early June or smth) -> Check "Specific Recommendation or Opportunity" -> Put this link under "Description/Website" -> Add your resume if you want to under "Supporting Materials" -> Send Request.

Once you do that, Interfolio will instantly send the LoR writer a link to upload their letter. From there, follow the instructions listed here (I think there's an AMCAS header) very carefully to add the LoRs to your AMCAS.

Alternatively, if you're concerned that some of your writers might struggle with scanning and uploading their letter, they can mail it in. Once I created the space for a new letter in Interfolio, it gives you the option to print a sort of cover letter with the LOR's unique ID number on it. I printed this form and included it with a pre-addressed, pre-stamped envelope in the packet I gave each writer. In my letter to them (also in the packet), I explained that they should put their LOR and the Interfolio cover letter into the included envelope and just pop it in the mail. Interfolio staff then scans it into your dossier. This has worked well for me so far.

Can someone mention if letters saved to Interfolio can be sent to scholarship agencies? I hate bothering my recommenders asking them for their letter each time for a scholarship, but I've only heard Interfolio mentioned as far as submissions to AMCAS.

I haven't done it myself, but I believe Interfolio letters can be sent anywhere.
