Ever get that way? You read the stuff and just want to say "screw it" and walk away from it. I'm like that right now. I just don't care at the moment. Maybe it's because of my day and how it went. 4ish hours of sleep and maybe Im a little cranky but my wife is making me a little mad right now. I just shut down at times like this. I don't know what it is but something just synapses and the "i dont want to" light turns on. Just sucks when my test is the 4th

Anyone else get like this?

What helps is not watching that extreme left wing tv channel, but fox instead. much better right wing

that's what i'm feeling right now with DAT in 3 days..
and today I looked at kaplan book and there are so many things I've forgot already
so I'm panicking now..

Well, Take a hot shower and then do some meditation, i think it helps. Stay Calm man, I know everyone got that too.

You think it is tough to buckle down and study now? HA!! Wait until D-school!! 😀

I don't think "buckling down" is what most of us can't do. It's studying the SAME material over and over and over......

Anyways, I'll have to agree I do feel a bit exhausted from studying.

I definately felt that way last summer when studying for the DAT. There are for sure times when you just need to close the books for a little bit. Keep at it though, because getting that acceptance letter in the mail makes it all worth it. I promise.

thanks.

To those who think I'm overwhelmed with studying right now try stepping into my world. Work 40 hours a week, 16 hours of research, take 11 credits while being married and start applying for jobs since you graduate this semester. Then tell me about being overwhelmed. I'm just lucky I have a wife who's willing to help me out with stress and is there by my side the whole way through.

I guess some of us never got nervous about the DAT. Meet them everywhere you go.

btw it would have to be fox over cnn and maybe Mad Money. That guy makes me want to invest!

Dude I feel you all the way. Work 37 hours a week, taking 15 credit hours, studying for the DAT, married. I think I have a trump card though. We have a 4 month old son.

I couldn't do a kid. I'd much rather spend time with my kid than study ANY day of the week if I had one.

Congrats on the kid though. Probably have millions of pictures of him all over.
What's your major and how long until you graduate?

fox news has forgotten the meaning of journalism. The only reason i would flip on fox is to laugh at sean hannity.

Thanks scuzfly. Yeah he's a cute kid, it's hard to spend so much time away from him. My major is Biology and I don't graduate until spring of 2010. I could graduate after fall of 09 but I want to take summer of next year off to do a Predental summer program at Baylor. Long road ahead though. How about yourself?

Graduate in May finally. Trying to line up a job while I apply for dental school. Then if I don't get into dental school I'll do a masters or PhD program and apply again. I took a year off so to speak. I delayed my senior thesis project so I could work and get my head straight and prep for a long road ahead.

Thats interesting. So what kind of jobs are out there for Biochemistry and/or Biology majors? Honestly, I haven't even looked at that. (I like how we've totally gotten off the topic of the thread)

definately shell out some cash and get an xbox 360 and call of duty four. between working at the clinic, biochem, ochem, ochem lab and evolution it takes the edge off lol

Lots of jobs out there you just have to look. I think the easiest place to go is your advisor. They usually know some big name companies in the area that lots of kids apply to out of college. Next are career fairs and such in the area. Other than that, USA Jobs, Monster, Career Builder, Craigslist are all good to use for finding jobs.

Playstation 3 is coming in june with the MGS 4 pack. I can't afford to play games now. I'm too busy with life to think about taking time for myself.

O yeah well I'm pretty badass with a bowstaff.

haha yea i'm having the same problem here, and i'm taking it in 24 hrs. it just feels like i've lost motivation for studying, i mean i look through all the notes and books from kaplan and what not and then i realized that all this material is stuff i've already covered in regular courses, well for the nat sci anyway. i'm not really worried about tha PAT as i think it's my strongest area, got a 25 and 26 on practice tests. one thing i think is a problem for most people is confidence. personally i like to see myself as someone who performs well under the pressure to an extent. it doesnt mean i dont get nervous but you just have to keep telling yourself that you know the material, even if on test day you dont.

Im right behind ya. Test Friday. 8am. then I go to work. then i get VERY drunk. then i work at 8am. repeat step 3 as needed.

pep-talk yourself in a mirror

I had a Organic Chem professor that told us a solution to this common problem...in his words: So if you are studying and just get the feeling you don't want to do this, get up, walk to the bathroom, look in the mirror and look at yourself straight in the eye and say "Would you like fries with that?" Then watch how fast your concentration comes back.

( i know, this obviously doesn't apply to us because most of the people studying for the DAT already have a Bachelors or about to get one but still...thought i would lighten the mood)
