this is on the first topscore test, and i don't know why i've never come across this before, but how do you figure out if C3 is chiral if there's no H directly attached to it? it says the 2 molecules are diastereomers.

Chiral means carbon with 4 different groups. Since it has 4 different groups, it's chiral.

just assign R and S. Just remember that if the H or lowest priority group is on the horizontal axis its the opposite, like if H is on the vertical axis and you had and R it is really an S. and if the lowest priority is on the vertical axis then it stays the same. I got RR and RS so it would make them both diast. hope that helps, im really bad at explaining chem without a white board lol

Cl is 1 the one on top(the one with the br is 2) and the C2H5 is 3. and the ch3 is 4. now since the ch3 is on the vertical axis dont flip the sign. it would go in a counter clockwise fashion. i really suck at explaining things online lol. sorry

no you're right, the first one is 2S 3R and the second is 2S 3S

lol you are right. im so stupid the post before this i wrote it wrong and the one after it i explained it and the way i explained it just pointed out my mistake lol...wow....do i feel stupid now 😳
