Isn't the end view supposed to be read from the opposite side? It looks like they're reading it from the left of the front view

Yes, you're right. It looks like they drew that figure looking down the wrong end. It should be looked at so the right side of the front view is closest to you, but the end diagram is drawn looking from the other side.

Yes the end view is wrong. If you see the part sticking up is on the wrong side. Crack the PAT some mistakes that I have already caught, so don't feel stupid; you are making a concrete question.
