!!!!!!!!

Great news! I've felt like you were my brother-in-unemployment for the longest time. I'm sincerely thrilled for you.

You would be my brother in unemployment. I was your sister in unemployment! That's okay, though.

It's temporary and part time, but it could lead to permanent full time. It's 4 hours from where I live now, and 7 hours from the city I was planning to move back to if everything fell through, but hey, I can adapt.

Women are my brothers, too.

I'm a non-sexist like that.

It's an unusual environment. It's a pharmacy in an average sized nursing home (this service is usually contracted out; maybe they service other facilities too) and the home itself has a very low rating from the state and other entities. 😱 Guess it's a good thing I can check it out through the agency before pursuing it further - and that includes moving 4 hours away to a city where I don't know anybody.

Is it a bigger city compared to where you are now? Yikes...that is one big move for a part-time job, but it's better than nothing. Not knowing anyone might be a good thing...you can start over. Maybe even meet a guy, get married, pop out some babies

No, it isn't. It's a small city with a big college, in an area that's even more rural than the one I live in now.

As for popping out babies, that's something I never wanted to do, and at my age, it's highly unlikely.

Good for you...make the most out of it and see where it takes you.

I was also contacted by an agency regarding an opening in my region (and it's 50 miles from a pharmacy school; wonder why they're using one?) and this guy reminds me of a used car salesman. I might just pursue this one on my own.

While reviewing my resume, the "used car salesman" mentioned a job I had left after 4 months, something I've always had trouble explaining, and I told him that I was a poor fit for the job (which was true; I'll spare all of you the gory details). He replied that their agency had had a lot of problems with that particular hospital over the years, and I wasn't the only one.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say we're gonna end up neighbors.

They originally wanted me to start next week, but I got a call from the agency this morning, and they want me to start tomorrow! 😱 🙂 I'll be leaving as soon as they call me back with the hotel reservation.

I am a nervous wreck right now!

This place has the same street address as the main nursing home it services, although it's in a different building, and also supplies 5 other homes as well. It's part of a bigger company, and they are opening a "filling station" 😛 in this town.

My nervousness was unwarranted; as pharmacy jobs go, it appears relatively easy.

So you found a job, when are you going to find a man?

And I got an offer on my house! 👍 Thing is, I have no idea what city I'll be moving to! This is absolutely insane. I'll look for a place that has a month-to-month lease so I'll at least have some kind of permanent address, even if it's a Staybridge Suites which will allow me to have my cats with me.

I found a place that meets my needs, and today, my mom told me that she's proud of me for making the right decisions.

😍

yay! I have been reading about your job hunting adventures and i am glad to see that you are happy!

I heard someone say on a news report that job hunting can be as stressful as getting married or having a child. Having done neither, I don't know about that, but it hasn't been a vacation by any stretch of the imagination and my parents applauded me for the way I've handled things.

In addition, I had my official house inspection today, and the inspector's wife used to work at the same hospital as a tech, and he asked about several of my former co-workers. 😎 She left before I started, because of our dreadful boss, and now works in another department in the hospital, and he said that for the past year-plus, people there have been walking on eggshells, something I already knew about and found out the hard way. 🙁

Youre a forty something. What the heck do you care if your parents are proud of you or applaud you?

Because they're still alive. No, I don't feel that I exist for this purpose, but I do deserve their support, don't I?

You deserve all the support. Just don't go around telling people your parents are proud of you... it's ok for a 5 year old to do that... kinda weird when a 40 something says it.

lol, yeah, is kinda weird.

Congrats! Good to have a job in the hand doesn't it? 👍 It's tough to be waiting to hear back while others are talking about their offers. I would recommend being a little more sensitive if some of your classmates don't have one yet, But good job. 😀

She's not a student. She's a long time pharmacist who has had some difficulty finding a job... for over a year I think. It's been discussed a ton on this forum. That's why we're all happy for her.

Maybe it's a female thing, but I still value the pride of my parents above other accolades. 🙂

Thanks!

Threadjack: How's your little bundle of joy? 😍

And now in the midst of all this, I was contacted this morning for an interview by a hospital I don't even remember applying at! 😕 It would have been quite a while ago too, because I stopped looking when I listed my house at the end of March.

A couple weeks ago, I got a "we decided to hire someone else" e-mail from a place I applied at in OCTOBER - and it's in a metro area with two pharmacy schools.

I did schedule that interview for a few weeks from now, after I've moved. We'll see what happens; my current job could indeed turn permanent.

I mentioned the interview contact on my Facebook page, and one of my FFs suggested something I hadn't even thought of: that this is a new opening and they still had my app on file. Makes sense.

I did sign up to go to the interview; it's about 3 weeks from now, and a lot can happen in that time. If the job I have now turns permanent, I'll cancel. We'll see! 🙂

Exhuming an old thread: I did go to that hospital interview, partly because they were paying my traveling expenses and also because I realized that part time job was not one where I wanted to go permanent, and the hospital called me the next morning with a job offer, saying that they thought I was an excellent match for the job.

I started last month, and everyone's telling me that I am doing a great job. I sure hope so! 😍

And people here don't tell their friends not to come to the hospital here, which towards the end is what was happening (and still is) at the last place.
