I took my 2nd DAT today
Something ironic happened
I was having a break outside the testing room.
I thought I spent only 10 minute but when I came back the RC already started. OMG!!
Because of the overwhelming pressure, I did bad on QR as well. I am a math tutor so QR is my favorite and strongest section of the test.
Very depressed although ended up getting 21AA. If I combined both tests(taking the higher score from each) I would have gotten 23AA... Very Sad
Here is my score for both of my DAT's
1st DAT 2nd DAT
PAT 21 30
QR 23 20
RC 22 15
Bio 18 20
GC 20 23
OC 19 25
TS 19 22
AA 20 21

That's really weird. I'm not sure why you even re-took in the first place, but from what I see, it seems you were confident you could do better and you did. That really sucks though. You definitely can still get in. Some schools have an RC cut off, but your other scores are so high, its almost apparent that something went wrong there. Sorry about that. Good job overall though

Does ADA send all DAT scores to the designated schools?
Also does Perfect score on PAT strengthen my chance to get in?
I am a California Resident
Thankfully, USC requires minimum 15 on each section of DAT
but is that really true?
I am being a little desperate and cannot calm myself down
I ended up visiting here and posting my situation just to share and hear some good words from you guys.

To what extent probably depends on each individual school. I seem to remember a thread that talked/listed the importance of each DAT section for each school.

There no doubt that your scores are high, and score wise, i think you make the cut.
Don't dwell on the DAT, it is merely a filter used by schools. As long as you score above the thresholds of 19-20, your application will most likely be reviewed.

Get some good rest and move on with your life 😀

I would invite you on an interview just to see what the hell you were doing on the RC section. Isn't a 15 like 20th percentile... I bet you accidently clicked continue when your break message popped up. And you didn't even realize it. Or someone else taking the DAT in there wanted to screw you over and clicked continue. If you're not cheating, you're not trying :meanie:

Also the marker I got was so dull! it dried up so quick and writes so thick!
I was panic during RC
Also the test center facility was very poor!
there was no clock anywhere in the building
I asked if I could take my watch with me, but they said no! and said leave my watch in the locker.....
Well do you think I should give these excuses when I will be interviewed?
By the way thank you so much for your comment~!

I don't think they usually discuss DAT scores in interviews because once you are there, that means they feel your scores are competitive. But if they did ask about your RC I would definitely tell them what happened. I'm sure they'd be curious. I'd be pretty pissed if I were you. But think of it this way, your other scores are great!

Picture your scores this way. It will help you sleep..
AA: 21/ TS: 22/ PAT: 30

I Thought when you go for a break until you come back it wont start. Until you click ok button... someone correct me on this...

I hope you get in somewhere with those excellent scores and you be able to laugh at this experience and recite it 1 million times.

When you go for an interview and I hope you get good number of them, bring the subject up yourself if it did not come up, explain what happened. I am sure they will note it in the interview chart. This way if they have slightest chance thinking that you not capable of comprehension, it gives them good reason to think not.

I also think that you hit the go buttom, before the break was over. That part is nasty as it says that your break has already started, only click if you want to go to the next section now (Or something like that).

Wish you the best. Don't think about it too much, life is too short.

Thank you for all of your posts
I would like to ask one final question...
My GPA for both Science and Overall is 3.2
Will I be competitive enough?

15 RC is a tough one... but you might be able to sneak in to a few interviews beceause the rest of your scores are stellar.

I hear BU and Tufts have 17RC cutoff...

Well, you got very good RC QR scores the first time, so I suppose either score that you get, they will be able to see that you are able to read and calculate effectively.

You'll be fine.

I always thought a perfect score in PAT was the hardest to get out of all the individual sections (because 15/15 in angles seems impossible...), but according to the recent DAT frequency charts, getting a perfect PAT score is actually easier than getting a perfect Bio, RC, or QR. Shocking...
