Hello all-

It's been over 5 months since I last posted. The wait is finally over and I will be attending UIC this fall (don't know which site, but that is okay).

My letter was dated 5/27 so I am grateful I got off the waitlist within 2 weeks of the AMCAS deadline of student's responses to offers.

To give this and next year's applicant pool some hope, listen to my story. Undergrad GPA 2.9 (2 F's, D, numerous C's), grad GPA (3.9) but doesn't carry much weight, 5 yrs research experience (1 3rd author pub, 2 national posters), minimal volunteer (none healthcare related except for providing home health care to my grandmother for 2 years, MCAT 27M (1995 didn't apply that year), 34L (2002)

All I can say is PRAISE GOD!

frankly, with all the positives in your app (mcat, research, grad gpa) I'm surprised you didn't get more schools. Never doubt yourself if you've put in so much work 🙂

Don't sell yourself short - the fact that you did this for 2 years (!) and you mention it so matter of factly, like it's no big deal, speaks volumes about character. This is what really jumped out at me ...
and I thought it was very impressive.
