actually iam also preparing for the bench but not sure when they are going to copnduct the exam.actually ihave taken class from duggans.so could you tell me how u have prepared for the exam.somebody was telling they asked 3/4 on #29.how you made it. did you practiced on that tooth before.how u made the wax pattern. was the time sufficient.
all the best for clinical exam

First, I took preparation course for RT exam directed by Dr. Stevenson. I think Dr. Duggan is also a good teacher.
Second, I bought the air compressor and practiced at home. In fact, I didn't practice a lot. During practicing, you will find a lot of problems. Don't be afraid to make mistakes because you will learn a lot from mistakes.
Third, don't be so nervous during examination and don't spend much time on one section or you will not complete the exam. I think finishing exam is the most important . please pay attention to your wax pattern, if it brokes examiners will give zero, then game over.

congratulations doctortintin

I really hope you can recieve the good news. Before the exam, I had confidence to pass the exam. but after the exam, I felt so bad because if my wax pattern broke I would fail even if I got good scores on other parts. Thank God, it didn't happen. My score is 80.

I took the preparation course directed by Dr. Stevenson . he gave us the books and other materials which are very useful for bench exam. So I didn't read other books.

Dental board will send you a letter which tells you the total score which must be 75 or above and the scores of each part. If you want to pass the exam you have to pass at least two parts. But they will not tell you the details , for example. If you get 80 on amalgam, you will not know your amalgam preparation score and your restoration score.

Congratulations, Irischcream.
The earliest time we can take Part IV is next year. So we don't need to hurry up. I think taking Dr. Stevenson or Dr. Duggan 's course is helpful, but I don't decide on it. we can get to know the details of next exam and start to buy materials and instruments . the most important thing is to look for patients.
what is your plan? could you give me some suggestions?

UCLA course is for 8 days while duggans course is for 24 days .The difference in cost is not much but since I did the Bench course at Duggans ,I'll prefer him for the clinical exam too...
As far as patients go we better start looking around clinics. I guess we'll have next exam in March or April.
As far as instruments go...lets find out first what all things are needed. I guess perio and composite instrument set wil definately be needed.
let me know what u think

Congratulations to you, drtintin, Irishcream and successful candidates.

Job well done. Hard work sure pays off.

drtintin, are Dr. Stevenson's books and materials available for sale outside of his review class? < please check your pm>.

Apolonia, relieve me of my toothache.

my friend had ever asked his assistant if she could buy Dr.stevenson's book and materials. the answer was no. Who will attend his course if everybody can buy them? after all , the tuition is so high.

Hi DRTintin,
how much did u score in the cast restoration #2 (PFM)?
my average is 76%

cast restoration #2 is #29 or#20 3/4 crown prep, model work and wax pattern , not PFM. That is Dr. Steveson told me. You don't believe you just got 76 on PFM, do you? My score on this part is not good because the overjet between #4 and#29 was much more than normal before the preparation, after I did normal occlusion reduction it looked like overreduced. I was a little innocent.
